This place has beeb abandoned for at least a decade, but noticed last year they tore down an attached structure, then earlier this month, they closed off the parking lot.. did someone recently buy it?

Hi guys,
Long time no post.
Over been driving past this for the past year and it seems like construction stopped several months ago.
Did they run out of money?

I'm curious about the adjacent parking lot. They recently improved it by cleaning it up, removing the flagpole, and actually adding more spaces there.
-
wasn't this the building that the original coney island restaurant was in?

You just have to remember. As distasteful as you may find some structures, they do serve a bit of a role in how Houston, a major transportation hub of commerce, operates.
What would make sense is to build a smaller viaduct to allow for pedestrian or bicycle traffic. It would be the cost and usage that would be the downfall of whether or not this project would be viable.

I'm curious how the rail is performing during large events like the games at MMP, BBVA, and the UH stadium? Anyone taken the train instead of driving to yesterday's game?

Here is the latest from the east line.

Okay, actually had the time to make sure the vid was processed.
NOW it should be done.......again, if the mods can delete the previous two screw ups, I'd appreciate it. Really, it works this time.

Sorry about that, didn't realize my error until it was too late. It's currently processing, so it should be available in the next hour or so. If the mods can delete my previous post, I'd appreciate it.

I got the other line almost finished, but will probably publish it next week.

a little Google fu is a wonderful thing.

I agree, but having it run on standard rail, even on its own right of way will be totally pointless once it has to join the regular track near downtown.

DNA, and I suppose you're against paying school taxes if you don't have kids or they are already out of school.
anyway, this thing needs to be meglev with its own path into downtown.
-
according to the article, I think that they are planning on building on top of another structure.

Let's not forget what kind of problems Atlantic City is currently having.
4 of their 12 casinos are shut down.

I haven't found anything mentioning this, and I'm unsure if this is related to whatever activity is on the webster side.
I was talking to a couple of employees at that station and it seems like the owner purchased the entire plot the station was on and they are due to shut down in December.
anyone know what's going on with this block?

my problem is that if starts relying on regular track ROW for getting to downtown, it isn't going to happen. The rails are simply too crowned.

I haven't been following this too closely, but I'm assuming that this will be rail and not some sort of meglev system?
if that is the case, I think that trying to get this to downtown is a doomed effort.

I really hope there is a giant mat at the front door or elevators that says, "welcome back."

I was out and about this and previous weekends, and I have noticed that the 30 mph speed limit is not only attainable, but outright dangerous. midtown on gray at Bagby and the Washington strip is an example.
even during the day, the speeds don't seem very safe.

did. did I see ltawacs make a post longer than a couple of words?

seriously, though. What are the possibilities of their pushing up the schedule of the garage construction if the line is down for an additional 6 months?
-
While I'm sure this had been frustrating, I have to agree with James. This will give them plenty of time to work out any issues that are still ongoing.
it didn't even occur to me about the construction on the garage interfering with the line.
Will the train actually go through the garage?
In also wondering when the rail finally starts running, will there be a chance of it running at least 20 hrs a day? The trains were packed at 11pm on a Sat night.

I worked for the 2000 census and I took a physical count for every person I came across.
because I was a Spanish speaker, I was assigned the gulfton/Hillcroft area, and I have to say it was a bit of a challenge, but highly rewarding.
