A new variance sign posted yesterday with "Blossom Hotel" on it and (I think?) another building was cleared next to the site. So, some kind of progress...
edit: this was on the last plat agenda:

So I used to live in the duplex 5 houses south of 1308 and left in October 2014 when the owners told me they were selling to Sunrise soon. So I always check the demo report for an update on it. Anyway, today's has the house right next door to 1308 being demoed (1317 Marconi), which of course HCAD has as owned by Sunrise. Maybe this thing's a-brewin?

Anyone remember anything about a sports lounge at 3704 Fannin? I saw something called "The Vanderbilt" on swamplot from back in 2014, but I don't think anything ever happened (based on their facebook page last being updated in 2014).
Anyway, was searching the permit site (cuz ya know HAIF) and there was a permit sold for this address last week for a parking variance...use is "CNVERT REST TO CLUB / ADD 3RD FL 1-3-3-A"; owner listed as FAT property.
Idk. Anyone seen any work here?

I noticed that they've opened Louisiana Fried Chicken and Seafood across the street from the McDonald's at Fannin/Gray. Looks like fast food, but it adds some diversity to the dining options currently available on that side of the rail.
Anyone can stop by on their way to Club Houston!

I agree, but midtown is such an anomaly. Honestly, I've attended the church across the street for 30 years (I'm 30), and I have never set foot in that Sears. And I now live in midtown.
I'm not sure what kind of retail could replace it and Fiesta or what kind of retail would want to.

Permit search in the zip code shows a building permit on 3508 Jackson was purchased by Loftech homes on the 5th.
Address search for the old La Paz funeral home (3515 Crawford) shows that HCC is the owner of that property now.
What have you people done to me?

I know I mentioned this earlier, but the clearing catty-corner to Axelrad (that has had Caterpillars and such) has a "Ser Construction" sign on the fence around it now. Anyone have any idea what this is? Probably just utility work, but still..

Curious. I would have thought this would be intended for the larger site across the street. I will have to be on the lookout for construction on the drive back from the UT Rec Center.

I wasn't aware of Montrose Monday until you mentioned it. If they offered that deal to Montrose "alumni" as well as current residents, I'd be on it like a duck on a junebug.
I kept my old driver's license after moving in my wallet solely in case of an emergency trip to El Real on a Monday.

May not really add anything and may be old news, but I was leafing through the midtown redevelopment budget and saw "Central Bank Plaza" development at $100k each year for the next 4 years. I wonder what this actually is. Probably just landscaping. Page 43 in the link:
