Are homeless people still a problem in the area? Compared to 3-4 years ago.
Hasn't been much of an issue since they fenced in the area under 59.

The design in this render is, from a architectural designers perspective, way better. Plus you can't go wrong with black.

Kata Robata is my usual go to. The non-sushi items are really good too. Kata is probably the best quality/price sushi place inside the loop.
MF Sushi if you feeling fancy.
For reference I've been to Uchi and Kanau... I prefered the more traditional menu at Kata. It has been several since I've been to Uchi so maybe I should try again...

Any updates?

I know Metro has a plan to purchase several electric buses but has there ever been any consideration to go with trolleybuses? We already have utility poles everywhere so what's a few more wires and poles down a street. Also you eliminate the inefficiencies of charging and transporting a battery. I would think the blue line would be an ideal route for trolleybuses...

Interesting little project. A great example of a project with probably a very limited budget, where they went with the most afforable materials possible, but you can see where the found places to go the extra mile to make moments a little more interesting, such as the general massing, the railings, etc...
I like the quirky aesthetics of this place. I'm curious as to how they will furnish the interior and what the rents will be. I do wish they would have kept more green space in the courtyard area like some of the older garden apartments in Montrose. I'm sure this place will be ideally located once the blue line is running.

Not 311 but when mayor Turner had a web site created to point out potholes, I reported a huge hole on Hawthorne right next to Montrose Blvd next to the little shopping center and they came out in just a day or two to fix it. This was during the pot hole controversy of a few years ago.
They jumped on those potholes. I reported several in my neighborhood and they were all filled in with asphalt in a week.

That really helps explain it, @Luminare, thanks for writing it all out.
I’ve wondered this. It certainly wouldn’t shock me. This line would just print money for TCR, and take a bite out of airline profits.
Southwest was against the Texas triangle because during that time the Wright amendment limited where they could fly from Love field. That's no longer the case so maybe Southwest is interested in flexibility for more profitable routes since they're gate limited. SNCF sided with the anti TCR crowd...probably still salty since they were one of the front runners for the Texas Triangle.

People in Houston are spoiled with princess parking. Like others have said there are several garages nearby, street parking a couple blocks away, and a light rail stop. Maybe they should have parking fees on all the lots and tie to the fees to park maintenance and improvement.

According to an email I received, Night Life is happening this April 2nd.
https://buffalobayou.org/event/night-light/
"Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) and Aurora Picture Show present Night Light, an evening of free video art along a ¾ mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou East trails. Houston artists Julia Barbosa-Landois, Marcelese Cooper, and Input/Output have been commissioned to create new, site-specific, media art works for a landing, an understructure of a bridge, and decommissioned gravel silos along the waterfront."
Looks cool, too bad I'm out of town this weekend. :( Maybe in the future they could make a city wide Night Light like Signal Festival in Prague...

well dang the pandemic destroyed this development in my opinion... (despite it already being a failure to some standards)
went to see the amazing band Forester last night at HOB Peacock Room and most restaurants were shuttered or closed including House Of Blues main restaurant as apparently they are no longer open on Sundays (which their gospel brunch used to be a popular staple...)
I had a hard time trying to find a close by place to eat around 5pm so i went to the former Lucky Strike bowling alley that was "luxury" bowling complete with dress code etc...and now it is called 818 Bowling and man oh man...let's just say it's devolved... 45 min wait for subpar fried food no less (yes i ate horribly but to be honest nothing else appealed to me much) and the staff was just hanging out and eating openly at the bar as well...then it just looked a little run down and dang they play their music waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy too loud to enjoy any conversation in the bar/restaurant. BUT they did brag about most everything on their menu is 10 to 15 dollars and that bowling is only 10 dollars per hour...so hey if you are looking for the Dollar Store version of Pinstripes then this is your place! ;)
but again, sad to see that this development has never really taken off or lands the right mix of businesses...
Isn't HOB as a brand on the decline? Their booking seems lacking, people that probably would have played there are now playing at WOMH. Not much hope for Greentstreet with HOB as the anchor.

Traders Are Now Betting On $200 Oil By The End Of The Month
Speculation is that it will still be in high $100's at the end of the year.
Yeah not sure how that will translate into worker and upstream confidence... Several people I know said they're done with O&G after getting laid off during the start of the pandemic.

Oil prices are up but I doubt we'll be seeing any kind of boom in Houston. I feel this is more of a blip than anything sustainable. What's everyone else's thought?

Maybe a Kimpton since Caydon Laneways deal didn't materialize or maybe a Grand Haytt... All the other brands I can think of are too high end or already represented in Houston.
