A new vision for I-45. And for Houston.
Houston Chronicle opinion piece.

This map doesn't look complete. There is a section in NW Third Ward that has no parking minimums. I understand why they didn't include all of Midtown based on the Super Neighborhood opposition. I hope there is a plan to incrementally increase this area in Midtown and possibly to Emancipation in Third Ward.
Sharing previous MBP proposal map from from another thread.

Regional Policy Entity Should Delay Vote on $100 Million for I-45 Expansion
QuoteThis funding would signal the region’s support for the project as currently designed, despite significant community concerns that widening the highway poses a serious threat to neighborhood history and heritage, greenspace, flooding, housing, jobs, air quality, and the environment. According to TxDOT’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement, the project would lead to disproportionate and adverse impacts to low-income and minority communities, displacing 168 single family homes; 1,067 multi-family homes (including 368 low-income units and 60 homeless veterans’ units); and 331 businesses that employ 24,873 people.

Americans Shouldn’t Have to Drive, but the Law Insists on It
QuoteIn large part because of parking quotas, parking lots now cover more than a third of the land area of some U.S. cities; Houston is estimated to have 30 parking spaces for every resident. As the UCLA urban-planning professor Donald Shoup has written, this mismatch flows from legal mandates rather than market demand. Every employee who brings a car to the office essentially doubles the amount of space he takes up at work, and in urban areas his employer may be required by law to build him a $50,000 garage parking space.

Edit: and the parking lot south of Fiesta. We might need some purple to hit the gamut of Infinity Stones. 😊
Not sure how I missed this but there is a small parcel near 69 that is listed on HCAD as being owned by Sears. I would think Rice owns or will acquire this parcel also.

Houston leaders asked to commit $100M to massive I-45 rebuild
QuoteTo demonstrate local support for the mega-project, the Texas Department of Transportation is asking the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Transportation Policy Council, the committee that doles out state and federal money controlled by local officials, to commit $100 million to the central 3-mile portion of the freeway rebuild, from Interstate 10 to Loop 610. State officials would cover the remainder of the $1.22 billion cost, or around 91 percent of the total.

Just in case everyone can't remember what it was supposed to look like I came across this from the Oxberry Group's website.😢
It's close when compared to how most stuff get value engineered. What details/features are you disappointed they didn't include on the finished building?

Blue Triangle Multicultural Association and Community Center
What we know about the Blue Triangle renovations ahead
On Tuesday, the state of Qatar announced it was providing the Blue Triangle Multicultural Association and Community Center with a grant for $4,988,123.
The money is part of Qatar's $30 million Harvey Fund that has provided monies for a variety of nonprofit organizations in the aftermath of the 2017 storm.
