Pretty sure I've seen those renderings long ago...
You have, It was either pre-enron collapse, or like 2004 when those renderings came out.

The monopoly Comcast has in certain areas did build their latest tallest.

Reminds me of the Q1 in Gold Coast. Well that and if it had a baby with that one in Seattle. Better then my drawing. I haven't touched autocad or rhino in years. I had a tower designed over the Galleria. But I was too inspired by the US Bank Building in LA (same foot print).

You could go either way with that one.

It is far from being an architectural masterpiece, but it doesn't need to be.
It reminds me of the Bob Bullock State History Museum in Austin.
I'm sure the architect was "inspired" by it. I apologize for complaining but looking at the rendering just puts me in a foul mood.

Am I alone in the thought that it looks like it belongs in that terrible texas themed park going up in New Caney?
I'm totally unimpressed. But, I guess people with kiddos and who are easily entertained will enjoy it.

I don't think it will have too much impact. The fast food commercials are bombarded during commercials on children's networks. They will still ask for it regardless if they pass by it on the school bus or not. The important thing is educating parents on the repercussions of over-eating, low quality food, and overall health benefits of not eating fast food.

That last guy and I have ESPN. I was browsing over photos of The Shard in London and thought how not every small building is worth the save. Look at Canary Wharf, once industry now commerce. Paris, however, is on the further end of the spectrum. Everything must be saved including every last brick. Houston would be the complete opposite on that spectrum. We can tear down anything and replace is with whatever with little to no red tape. Our city is so young and we have SO MUCH land. The landscape is actually quite atrocious, the only thing we have going for us greenery.
While I do stand to say that not everything should to be torn down, I often have to remind myself that one day something spectacular could fill it's place.

"our young montrose is all grown up now...".
I hate to quote Britney Spears but... I'm not a girl, not yet a woman.

Something tells me youre going to have to be really rich to live here
Not really rich. Just rich enough to throw +2,500 a month in the trash each month.

I feel 50/50 love/hate the design. Thankful that it's shortened though.

I'm sure it's already been discussed, but what if one alternative is to re-do all the highways entirely?
1. Reroute Interstate 10 to north of the Hardy Yard, eliminating the curviness of the original Interstate 10.
2. This older part of Interstate 10 is rebadged as part of Interstate 45/US-59.
3. Tear up Bagby Road and create a new "cut and cover" sunken freeway. This connects to the existing Spur 527 and takes the part of the old Interstate 45 that leads south to the Pierce Elevated.
4. The aging Southwest Freeway stretch between that and 288 is partially dismantled and turned into new exit lanes for 288.
5. Dismantle the Pierce Elevated.
Of course, this is extremely expensive and probably won't solve any of the biggest problems.
No but it would look purdy.

Awesome! This is on par with the Tenneco's lobby renovation.

I'm of the opinion that a "signature" bridge for I-45 would be more hokey than iconic. I would rather have zero freeway visable when admiring the skyline. Perhaps if Buffalo Bayou was wider - then certainly, but it isn't large enough to warrant a signature/iconic bridge.
I agree. Not being able to see the freeway from the west side is the only positive about the current layout (from further angles). Putting a "signature" bridge doesn't make any sense, as it would only cross such a short amount of water space (bayou). A more subtle, well designed smaller bridge would do wonders. I don't want some giant white arch like Dallas. If we did have that, it would be an eyesore.

Pre-pubescent & Pre-crash HAIFer. Check it daily, often every 2 hours. I've come out in public to friends and family about my HAIFing, even showing them pictures. I've figured out i'm by far alone in my fascination of architecture and urban planning with everyone I know.

nothing. the time I went there it was loud, not the type of place i'd want to go with a group to talk.
It's always been quiet when i go. Oh well no one else is on band wagon, so is this happy hour still happening or what? I could do the weekend of the 23rd. or December 7th,

looks good... love the density/design. there are several projects in the works in this area that are flying under the radar. whether or not many of them ultimately get off the ground is always the lingering question but don't be surprised to see a few more high rise/mixed-use projects get announced.
I look forward to some cool new renderings. Any one in awesome project particular, or just a bunch like these?

So the only way to have any kind of future in this city we must build rail, and completely tear down every freeway, at the expense of GM. Have a valid point? ha, jokes on you, I have more in my hat of tricks to avoid the question.

There is nothing wrong with freeways. Just the people who don't know how to drive on them.

When you are bitching to an acquaintance, and their response is open eyes, nodding head, "right"? But with a major upward inflection. I could slap them but I won't.

It has the potential to grow into something larger, and I look forward to any progress made as far as roller coasters go.

Source? I predict our metro population will surpass the DFW's in the 2030's. I also precut we will snag a couple more corporate HQ's. Local banks will grow and be bought out by international banks and we will see a retail growth of their branches versus just the business side. The Energy Corridor already rivals downtown for office space and that trend is just going to continue for the foreseeable future.

I'd be happy if they had some hanging/climbing floral beneath the elevated freeways.

Hm... an hour & a half drive? or a 5 hour boat ride? The boat would have to be pretty short. Some of the bridges have lower height until the turning basin.
