  1. Even for 1 person, the big issue I have is that there is only 1 train per day, and airfare is comparable in price when booked more than 21 days in advance. I would like to try it out some day though.
  2. That's just sewer work from my understanding. No road reconfiguration is happening.
  3. That was a Midtown TIRZ rendering. I contacted them to ask if there was a timeline, funding, etc and they said no timeline and no funding at this point. Just something they would like to see. I specifically asked if it was something we could see with the new Harris County funds for this year and they said no. Edit: Also, Alabama reconstruction has been pushed to like '21 or '22 based on rebuild Houston funding website
  4. I mean.... is any effort really worth it at this point? Who the hell is going to be connecting from say New Orleans to Dallas? It'll take like 10 hours!
  5. Saw this in the presentation. When it says "Trails in Progress" what does that mean exactly? That they have plans/funds and are waiting to start? The little corner in the bottom left of the map on Holman is separated bike lane that is complete for a whole block, but none of Brazos is done to my knowledge and it's marked the same color. Are the dotted blue line projects imminent in their start?
  6. Cmon everyone, lets have a little faith here. It's been covered up for decades. They're going to tweak it for sure. I'm sure the first rendering will turn some of you back from wanting to flatten it.
  7. Glassell School of Art to open to public with a party on May 20 from noon to 4 pm. http://glasstire.com/2018/05/09/new-glassell-school-of-art-to-open-with-a-big-party/ List of opening day activities: https://www.mfah.org/calendar/celebrating-community-opening-day/201805201200PM Definitely going to make it down for this!
  8. Oops! Missed that. @Urbannizer Should this thread just go away?
  9. http://houston.culturemap.com/news/real-estate/05-09-18-bustling-downtown-houston-street-to-be-transformed-into-a-walkable-bike-friendly-corridor/?utm_source=sf_twitter This is great! This may hurt traffic a bit after theater shows, but they can deal with it imho. Edit: Asked one of the planners on Twitter for a timeline, and he said 1 year for design and 2 years for construction.
  10. I reverse commute to Humble and I can assure you it's the best highway in Houston
  11. Ummm...... WAT. I'm sorry, but there is absolutely no way. Let me be clear, that this project is fascinating and I'd love to see it come to fruition. First of all, most people don't want to boat on the San Jacinto River, much less on Lake Houston. There's debris everywhere and the lake sucks. There is a boat launch in River Grove Park right next to this, but still. This would require radical changes to the streets in the area. It's in a really awkward spot to get in and out of the area for a major development. Even extending Woodland Hills over the river wouldn't help that much. If the Kingwood area can't even attract a single luxury car manufacturer, how would they be able to uphold a crazy luxury home and commercial district like this? This looks like The Woodlands and I don't think Kingwood is up for this. I'm sitting here just stunned this is even being presented.
  12. Menil Drawing Institute to open Nov. 3 https://www.houstonchronicle.com/entertainment/article/Menil-Drawing-Institute-to-open-Nov-3-12876282.php
  13. Looks like initial fares are right at $300 RT while United is asking $638. Interjet is also flying the Sukhoi Superjet on the route. They are one of the few north american airlines using the SSJ100 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Superjet_100 It holds 93 versus United's 4X daily service with EMB-175 aircraft which have 76 seats.
  14. I'm assuming this was in connection with Le Meridien?
  15. Had a mini panic attack/sadness because the two softball fields in the middle where the land bridge are have disappeared on the rendering, but then I saw that they added two more in the north end of the park. I was so sad for a moment!
  16. Surely whoever buys this would renovate, right? Is this lot really good enough to demo and build something else?
  17. I live in Westmoreland, and I'm basically surrounded by construction with Elgin and W Alabama being torn up and now Tuam@Bagby being torn up. None of it looks close to being done. I'm assuming it's all sewer work.
  18. Much better article/press release here: http://memorialparkconservancy.org/latest-news/97-memorial-park-accelerates-visionary-plan-with-70-million-gift-from-kinder-foundation.html
  19. They edited it! That would make more sense though.
  20. Holy Shit. Kinder Foundation donates $70 million to fast-track the largest projects of the master plan. https://www.chron.com/local/article/Memorial-Park-restoration-gets-a-70-million-boost-12863707.php?utm_campaign=twitter-premium&utm_source=CMS Sharing Button&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=twitter-desktop&utm_source=CMS Sharing Button&utm_medium=social

School night shows cut off at 930PM
  22. Stunning redesign. Can't wait for it.
