  1. 3rd ward as we know it is about to be gone! Gentrification comes with a price.
  2. Ok. You could've just said this in the beginning.
  3. i hope if jumbotrons are in the plans, i hope its not like those boring- stillscreen ones that are on the outside of the Toyota Center.
  4. Uhhh? I know they're independent businesses. But i was assuming that the Wendy's closed because it wasn't keeping up with the current vision for that area. That whole area is changing and it seems that since Wendy's and McDonald's are the same type of businesses, i was wondering why both of them couldn't remain.
  5. What i don't understand is why they closed the Wendy's and their is a Mcdonald's right across the street. Seems like if Wendy's wasn't a fit then the McD's wouldn't be either?
  6. Last i heard, the Superblock Park was delayed construction until Spring 2014. But seeing Houston's history, that probably means delayed indefinitely. I'm suddenly reminded of Greenstreet downtown.
  7. I'm not happy to hear about losing any tenant in Midtown, especially a tenant that resided below apartments, which is something that Houston already struggles with. On a side note, The former Barcadia site hasn't filled its space yet either? Sad news for Midtown
  8. Several years ago, i think i read someone on here state that he no longer had any jurisdiction over the transportation , but when the issue comes up regarding the ULine, he always raises his ugly head. I'm starting to think these claims are just ways to catch rail supporters off their game Do you really think this will happen? Knowing Houston's traditional "Cheaper route" method?
  9. what is so special about this building's design. like someone said, it looks like a radiator. Not attractive or noteworthy. Update it please!
  10. Such a bland, tasteless, typical boxy Houston building. But still good news.
  11. what? no seriously, what happened to him? He had been posting for years and even had the highest post count, then all of a sudden... gone?
  12. I know i'm cynical, but i'm expecting this building to be in the same state it is now in 5 years. Much like the ambitious poster board on the side of the wall.
  13. Since the tunnels don't seem to be going away any time soon, there needs to be some more visible signage pointing to more stairways that lead to the tunnels, telling the directions to the most populated place of the tunnels: The Foodcourt. And also the signs should show any the names to any restaurants or boutique shops that can be accessed through that tunnel.
  14. Just drove down this road tonight to the point where it meets Westheimer. There were people all over the place, standing in line to get in the clubs and it was past 2am. This area is really traversing to be a very walkable area with many bars and restaurants packed into a small area. The new lamposts and redone sidewalks have really done wonders and is starting to resemble a mini version of McKinney Avenue in Uptown Dallas.
  15. The building is a little bland in my opinion. It doesn't really stand out from the others in Uptown. It would be nice if some of these highrises would start sprouting up in Midtown too, but I guess I can't look a gifthorse in the mouth.
  16. I don't get how making lower Westheimer one- way between Bagby and Kirby would improve things. Westheimer is too much of a main boulevard to have any part of it being limited to one direction. It needs to remain a long continuous thoroughfare throughout the city. That's not a good idea in my book.
  17. This would be great news. But part of me feels for those owners of those crappy, decaying homes who will be displaced. But that might be the spark that revitalizes that area.
  18. Okay, anybody know what's going on with this? It's coming up on 2 months since they announced the conversion and the complex hasn't started construction yet? It seems like they would've started on this by now since they were talking about it will take 7-8 months to complete? The skeptical side of me tells no real change is going to come of this thing.
  19. I agree. It's almost like the past is being held right up on these floors. With all the new rennovations, they're just going to be thrown out the window. Maybe they should open up a museum with a few floors dedicated to the each decade. One for the 60s, 70s, and so on. Name it: PAST PRESENT, and FUTURE right around the block to highlight these historic gems.
  20. not trying to be a Debbie downer, but they've been talking about doing something like this for the HRY for at least 10 years. I'm not holding my breath, but I hope Triton is on to something here.
