  1. I don't know about you, but I am sure street vendors are only going to do so much. Personally, I do not think they are enough to bring someone from that 30th floor office to the sidewalk to get a hoagie and some chips. Plus aren't we seeing the success of street vendors around the Court area now? Looks like a normal day to me. If someone gets a warning ahead of time that say Beck's Prime, probably the most successful eatery in the tunnel, is moving into that new ratail garage at Main and Walker, can we just think about how many people will be flocking to that place during lunch time? This is if you know how packed the place is on a normal day.
  2. Do you think this city would be interested in actually bringing up the tunnel retail to street level? If the city was actually interested, would it be a bad idea to put aside some funds to actually pay people to move to street level? Plus it would bring a need for urban retail space in downtown that could fill up some parking spaces. Of course this is all an attempt to increase pedestrian traffic and not hiding it underground. As far as the weather, I am sick of hearing about this. It is about time to put some planning in use that makes walking in 80+ degree weather with 100% humidity more convenient and comfortable. Another idea is for one of these downtown management companies to start thinking outside the box and actually advertise and embrace the importance of increasing ped traffic to jump start a more lively downtown.
  3. This will be beautiful, but that Amegy Bank building and all the post modern crap will steal from its glory. Atleast during the day.
  4. I asked this question on SSP and I believe these are nothing more but the Edge.
  5. I found this Midtown map on the Page Partners site and I was looking at information for this midtown retail development that was mentioned earlier on this forum: The map stresses where this development will be located but shows the different uses of the area. Does anyone have information on the residential project at the very top of the map named Camden Central City? Has anyone heard of it. The one thing that scares me about Camden is, if it is not mixed use, you usually get the stuff that exsist in Midtown now that Camden owns.
  6. Yeah and then one developer will get excited and think he or she is really cool and open up a strip mall. That area in Houston is the only decent area in Houston where zoning looks in place somewhat.
  7. At the corner of the building below circled in the red or so I think that is what midtownguy is talking about.
  8. OK, I find myself in the area a lot, when visiting a friend who recenly moved from California into the 2222 Smith Street building. I walk to the Post a lot but always end up going to the little corner store called Midtown Market. I never have really gone into the other businesses but I would like to try them. Well I have been to Lab 5 but they are $$$$$$$$$$$ if you have been there. How do you like the retail at the Post?
  9. Now when are they going to notify people like my mom that parking is no longer available in these lots or in the parking garage next door? When my mom gets the notice, you'll hear it here first. I can understand the 'Thank You' in that photo, but the rest of the ____ is so random.
  10. Yeah after I think about it, a residential could have went in this spot. It could have been in similar fashion to Byrd Lofts with the retail at ground level.
  11. http://img469.imageshack.us/img469/5995/a9ik.jpg So what was the purpose of that? Not getting enough business or could not afford the rent? I don't know, I am just assuming. But I did look them up and eventhough they are still pretty much in the Heights, it looks like they moved to Beauchamp Street which is actually south of 10th. Would it be appropriate to change the name? Anyway, this is just some of my frustration with this city changing up on me so much. Anybody have pics of their new location?
  12. I never took the time to take a picture of a CVS and we are talking about a Walgreens u/c or recently completed.
  13. I understand, but I thought the whole reason for a light rail was to decrease the need for parking structures and lots. Oh well, the building is already demolished and I guess it has been an eyesore for too long. Atleast it will have retail.
  14. What is the point of having all of these garages along the rail line?
  15. It may not be the hottest area in Midtown, but Smith and Drew is not a "hot" area? This is a few blocks north of the Calais @ Courtlandt Square.
  16. No more info? If you're being secret, that's fine.
  17. Anybody else think this thing looks like a horribe Hong Kong Commiblock building?
