  1. Oh goodness. You really think Houston will get something like this? I think the cities are trying to close the gap of similarities between each other. This is not the 80's.
  2. International prominance. I can't name nothing other than Fortune 500 companies that Dallas claims as important. But neither city can be classified with NYC and Chicago.
  3. In the 4th picture? edit: Come to think of it, it is. Sorry.
  4. If you want a burrito to go. I recommend Chipotle at the Rice Lofts. Anybody agree. Eventhough they have them all around town.
  5. Sambuca Jazz Cafe(located at ground level at the Rice Lofts) 17 at Sam Houston hotel
  6. I hear that they are trying to make downtown more upbeat with more midrises taking over the parking lots. It is all part of the Framwork 2025 Plan. If they want to get things done more quickly, why didn't they put this development and other developments like this going around town in the CBD.
  7. Oh my gosh. How beautiful would Houston be with mountains? And the building next to Williams makes it look like you are in a different place. Great photoshop, jmancuso.
  8. Uptown Park was a perfect opportunity to make the Uptown neighborhood slightly more urban. Just think about if all those shops were pulled to the street somewhere. Plus, aren't some of the condo highrises in Uptown private access? Not very urban in my eyes.
  9. ^^^OK, but it creates an environment that the average person rarely experiences. Again, this project is not just TV screens and billboards.
  10. I don't know what it is. Is it just biased or jealousy. Anybody can clearly see that this project is more than just billboards, and how can you compare billboards on the side of a freeway to Victory Plaza's.
  11. Undocumented immigrants tell police they have been held there for 30 days By ANNE MARIE KILDAY Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle Responding to a tip, police found 31 undocumented immigrants packed into a motel room in far southwest Houston on Friday night. The immigrants
  12. First condo development for Suagr Land Town Square is complete. http://cityplazatownsquare.com/
  13. I'm still surprised downtown does not have a grocery store yet. An urban Target, which are popping up around the country, would be great for downtown. I can't even think of the closest retail, as in clothing, near downtown. Probably the Village Acade or River Oaks.
  14. Midtown, Downtown. West University, Montrose, Heights, Bellaire, Uptown, Rice Military, River Oaks, and Memorial are just a few of Houston's urban neighborhoods. If you live in any of these neighborhoods, do you find them walkable neighborhoods that have eveything a resident may need. For example I live in Bellaire. There is no way that I will walk anywhere in this neighborhood because it is like a suburb inside the core of a city. When I exit my house I have a long way to walk until I get to the business and retail areas in my neighborhood because I am trapped in by the long streets filled with single family homes. My brother recently moved into downtown, he finds himself driving to the Kroger in Montrose because of the lack of grocery stores in the area. He would go to Fiesta in Midtown, but he does not trust it. If I had to pick the most urban neighborhood in Houston, I would pick West University. Everything you need can be found north or south of 59 on Kirby Drive from grocery stores, coffee shops, retail at the Village Arcade, and everything in between. There is also a mix of different housing developments in the area to choose from. Do you find the neighborhood you live in the ideal urban neighborhood in this city, if not which one(s) do you choose.
  15. What's wrong with Corelli's Italian Cafe. Located at 5640 Westheimer.
  16. Houston also has those red London telephone boxes going up Kirby Drive.
  17. On a serious note, I do not think it was Dallas' intention to make this like a times square. Houston is guilty for stealing ideas from other cities also. From the Central Park in downtown, the one day to become Manhattan village by the water wall, the Manhattan style brownstones going up in downtown, the French Quarter condos by Memorial, to the Venetian design strip mall near the Woodlands(which I passed by this weekend, and it looked absolutely awful). Honestly, I think some of these reactions would be totally opposite if this project was going up in Houston. I used a little euphemism in that last sentence, but you all should now what I am talking about.
  18. Dallasite alert, Dallasite alert, Dallasite alert! Close the forum down for inspection! j/k.

In between, a community comes together, at the Beach Club, General Store, at the proposed Marina, on the piers, at the shore. Here, life slows to island time and in between beach and bay you find a coastal home and community like no other. http://www.centexdestinationproperties.com/pointewest.html
  20. Oh my goodness. I don't really care for the duck pond, but the water wall. That would be horrible.
  21. So far, so good. When were these pics taken? I am guessing you were there during work hours, evn though there is not a pedestrian in sight. That damn tunnel. Again, great pics.
  22. That restaurant is awesome, but expensive as hell. I believe my friends entree was about 35 bucks. All the desserts I think were about 7 or 8 dollars for a slice of cake or pie.
