Nostalgia works for certain theaters depending on the location of the theater, the building's architecture. River Oaks Theatre is an example of this. In my opinion, the nostalgia factor doesn't work here. It has to attract the pre-teen to 40 year old crowd, that consists of millennials and Gen-Z. Retro products, logos (Pizza Hut) and venues are making a comeback, but for this center to gain the crowds (or even a fraction of the crowds) it used to draw in '99 through the early 2000's , there has to be an update to the venue.
Probably all true, but you’re talking to someone who liked the vibe of the Windchimes dollar theater on Westheimer. You can also probably guess the River Oaks Theater is my favorite.

I may be alone but I love that this theater still has a 90’s feel to it. It doesn’t feel old but it has a nostalgic feel to it for me.

Now try. As well as those that probably couldn't see it before. Forgot to press the share button and give permissions to those who have the link to access the map. Let me know if it works.
All set brotha!

In order to really get this back on track, I guess I can show y'all what I've been working on the past week. Its not ready for prime-time yet (meaning a dedicated thread in Going Up *which I'll try to get it pinned*), but thought it would be nice to give a good preview. Basically I'm working on a dedicated HAIF Development map. I'm sure there are others out there, but I've gotten tired of either searching for them or relying on others to keep them updated. It still has a ways to go as there is so much content on this site to comb through. For now I'll leave the link here:
Says can’t open in map.

Merge wars! Lol.
Does anyone know what to expect from the rest of the exterior of shake shack? Are they allowed to kind of build outwards?

Yes let’s go “live” from 40 years ago. If you want to go “live,” you might be surprised.
This was a joke. I laugh at those who are scared as you can see by my post at the top of the page.

Lets go live on the scene at Parkway Village....

@swtsig mentioned this or land in the immediate area possibly being part of a very large redevelopment. Maybe there’s more to it?

Very large? Hmmm do they own the Dillard's site as well?? Westheimer to W Alabama would definitely qualify as large.

Was hoping for a tower of course. Not sure how I feel about this one just yet.

Being next to the park and downtown is great but Allen Parkway Village brings the whole area down. I wouldn’t want my family walking in that area alone. Get rid of Allen Parkway village and it would be great.
Laughable.

I’m just here for the memes thx
Jokes aside i have no beef with anyone here. We’re all passionate about our city and that’s what makes the contributors here so special. If I had to rely on the Chronicle for all my news and updates then I would be begging for threads with only addresses in them, so thanks to all for your postings, pics and even gifs.

Not to totally derail this topic but I really dislike the many “address only” titled topics. They are completely useless and rarely read on my part. Names of businesses and/or developments need to be included in the title if there is to also be an address.
This isn’t twitter but I wish I could retweet this! I’ve mentioned this exact point before. This is what makes up the Heights sub-forum.

Way too soon to say for sure but the food hall definitely has an office tower feel to it. Excited to see it completed.
