Man I would take something like this any day over those 20+ story boring office squares. I would have LOVED this in front of The James fronting Westheimer instead of the office building going up.

I think some of y’all aren’t seeing the long term approach Metro is making politically. They offered an affordable cost efficient plan that over time will rally enough support to convert to light rail. I don’t see every line staying BRT. The infrastructure will be in place for an easy conversion. Plus the plan also focuses on making Houston streets safer and more pedestrian friendly with new sidewalks and access to stations. Much of those changes will incorporate repairing and repaving many of Houstons worn out transit corridors such as Richmond Ave.
genuinely asking here but what would be considered and easy conversion to light rail? Are we just assuming or is it known that it can cut construction time in half or whatever?

No. It works on Windows too (confirmed with Firefox at least; I'm sure Chrome also works too).
When I pull up the google map app on my iPhone there’s no option for 3D view??

Downtown, Midtown, and the Museum District have all been recently updated with 3D models in Google Maps. It looks great!
Do you know if this only works with android?

I absolutely love this space. It’s hard to imagine it struggling or even needing a makeover of sorts.

Yup. Reasonably priced with styles similar to H&M and Zara. They’re only doing 10% off denim at this location right now.

I think Zara would do better. Whenever I travel and visit Zara, it’s busy and would probably fit the DT residents, workers and tourists.
I feel like Zara, Forever 21, and H&M all have the same customer base. I would love a Zara here though.

Not sad... did anyone ever really go there? Feel like we can put something better there...
It’s a loss no matter how you slice it IMO, one of the few “major” retailers Downtown. Realistically what would you like to see?

Hoping they go tall (duh) because this is the next best chance to stretch the skyline.

The one good thing is that sign or some form of it has been there the whole time so they will probably keep the Marquee style sign and just change it to whatever the new place turns into...but keep that style etc as its iconic to the Montrose area!
Good! I shared this story with a buddy and his first comment was about the neon sign.

As someone born in 85’ I would love to see video from these times...

So how many will just miss the neon sign if it goes?
Me and the GF use to have Rita’s on the patio when the weather was nice but never really for anything else.- 3

Could someone share some other major Skanska projects?

I guess Instagram worthiness is now a reason to go somewhere...
While your point holds, I do believe they did a nice job with this. I love how they gave the space an option to go open-air.

It’s been like that every weekend for a while now..

Bittersweet for me. That skyline view from the Texas pool at the Marriott has almost become a Houston landmark. Visitors love that photo opt

I"m 63 and now live in Four Leaf Towers. My 6000 sq. ft. house in Hedwig Village was a great place when I had two kids in school and had tons of gear, a son who played guitar and drums and parking for our three cars. It had a back staircase that allowed a summer to go by without having to meet my daughter's then-current boyfriend. But the kids are now in L.A. and Austin, one is married and my wife is nearing the end stages of a decades long rare neurological disease, By the time both kids were in their mid-=twenties, when they were at home, it was like running a small hotel and I was the staff. I miss my garden and pool, but not much else about the property. At Four Leaf Towers, I have someone to unload my packages from my car after returning from Costco or HEB and bring the stuff up to my apartment. I;m now living in 2690 sq. ft. and its certainly more than enough for my needs. Right now, I have one guest room and when both my son and my daughter and son-in=law visit, I usually book one of them into a hotel for a few days. I think one could live nicely with a family in this apartment, but for many reasons, including the amount of personal possessions amassed by the affluent, including sports gear, cars, etc. it would feel cramped by most families.
Thanks for sharing. Always cool getting a look into the lifestyle of the rich and famous 😜

Why not? I mean he's clearly shown he wants to make a big impact. He already talked about upgrades to Toyota Center.
I was excited to hear all that talk as well, but I like the Crane approach of minimal talking and mass action. It’s still early in his tenure so we’ll see I suppose.

Would be nice if Tilman snatched up a lot or 2 around Toyota Center, but I’m not holding my breath on that one.

Been a few times and I liked it enough. I do agree that they dropped the ball on the garden though.
