As much as I wish for htown lives post to be true, it just seems too good to be true. Obviously the city is working on something/a retail district for the area.. But bringing a Bloomingdales to Houston? In downtown...? Maybe in theGalleria, Memorial City Mall, or something of the like. A proven retail destination. Idk, I would just be reluctant to go all out betting on downtown. But I hope the city can come out with a bang on the new project and really get something going.
Honestly - I agree with you that it seems overly optimistic. But at the same time... 3 big retail stores with a number of smaller stores... She is essentially creating a mall, downtown! And if it's done right, why would it be unrealistic? It's a proven concept in other major cities.
Hope it happens!

There was a huge lay down on closed streets. Looks like a big piece of the crane. Wow it is big

I guess but could be a sign also of plateauing demand. Or just a sign the prices are too high for most to consider.
I do not know the prices, but they may be high... they are removing tons of affordable apartments and replacing them with ultra luxury units. One Park Place took a very long time to fill up. and that was built years ago...
I think demand is high, but these companies are trying to squeeze out everything they can from residents, in order to take advantage of this boom. I think when more and more units open up, prices will settle into the right spot. I am not tying to be argumentative, but I am not concerned.

Only 70 units leased so far.
Out of 300? These bigger more expensive apartments tend to take a little while before filling up

are we sure? Because wasn't that the original height... maybe it isn't updated?

I really hope to see this rise. We will see 3 towers rise at the same time at Market Square!!

How tall are these builings really going to be? We first heard 8 and 10 stories... the renderings provided are 6 or 7 stories each (same height)... and now the swamplot article says it wll be an 8 and 5 story apartment buildings???
a total of 269 apartments for 2 buildings seems low...

i heard from a good source several weeks ago that skyhouse cbd #2 will happen sooner rather than later.
across main or next to the existing one?
What would look better? Identical towers next to each other or 2 different versions next to each other?

Projects like this are awesome. I love that we now have a historic corridor and buildings like this can be reused - from downtown's historic distric to Old 6th Ward, to High First Ward to Woodland Hieghts to Germantown to Norhill to Heights East / Heights West historic disctricts. So cool.

I agree that One Market Square may get an increase in height, but I doubt it will hit 700 feet.
I'm thinking a level of mixed use in this tower

If they are ever revived, international tower and chevron are good contenders for the height department
Neither are "dead"

So their goal here is to have a campus-like situation? They are adding a second park? I'm confused what phase that is - but if I'm reading correctly, he north section of Richmond square apartments looks to be a new park.
Also, the apartments... They are building apartments as a money generator I assume - but how does this fit into their mission statement?

Picture from this morning.
So does this mean the tower is really happening...

Did someone really just wonder aloud whether or not the addition of a 26-story luxury boutique hotel with a groundbreaking design (a first for Houston) would really improve green street all that much???
No doubt tha this hotel will be an amazing addition for Green Street and Houston.

Martha Turner sold a hug block off San Felipe, Spann, and Welch for a 46 story high rise. It is very quite right now because of the Hines building. Residents did not like the Hines building. They will scream if they built this one. Urbanizzer can find out leaving town tomorrow.
46 story residential?

ExxonMobil is not moving HQ to Houston, The Woodlands, or anywhere else. Why does this rumor persist?
Because it seems like a logical next step

I love seeing highways packed with trees. Makes the drive and the Houston vibe SO MUCH BETTER. That being said, if rail can be added here, I am for a combonation of wooded landscaping and rail.

One project that is not shown on this map is the Hamilton Apartments, which will go up on St. Joseph Parkway (NW of the intersection of I-45 and US 59/I-69). There's a building permit listed in HBJ, which usually doesn't happen until dirt has started moving. The description is apartment units atop a garage structure. No other details, other than it's a $15 million project.
We need a development map for July or August...

Is this alive or dead? There has been some confusion on the board

Is this the Trammell Crow midrise?
nope.

I heard it. I was wondering why as well....

East side of Houston's CBD is 96% leased. Not the building.
Ah. Thanks

What do you mean?
And btw, I get a 404 error when I click that link.
The building is 96% leased?

It was only a mater of time before this lot was developed. I hope it's tall enough to block the view of the Allen garage.
