  1. lord & taylor's going to become 3 large restaraunts, and a border's books.

macy's is next to go, it's going to become a highrise residential building.

I dought that there only building 3 restaurants and a Borders but then again its too small to built more stores. I was hopeing Macy's wouldn't become a residential building insted it should become stores that's the only thing that would help Galleria 3 because I dought a residential building would help........

  2. I want to disagree, but deep down inside, I don't think so either. I so badly hope that I'm wrong. Disney coming here, I don't see that as a reality. I've heard those rumors are false anyway. If we get anything, I think it'll come from someone locally; someone with strong ties to the city. Yo, Fertitta! Maybe Tilman will start a chain of parks with the flagship being right here in Houston. Let's get something going.

I keep on hearing "Tilman", Who or what is Tilma?

  3. What is Sesame St.?  I know it is a show, but is it an amusement park.  And I hope they don't build a disney park near downtown.  This is one of those times LT. AWACS old saying "they should have built this DT" does not apply.  Plus the land would be too expensive, they would just take the smart move and build further out.  Not to mention you need to get these people to sell their homes.

Unless the Supreme court finds that they aren't as proffitable as disney. ;) j/k

Seasame Street is an amusement park somewhere near Philadelphia its the only park based on Sesame Street in America.....

  4. I'm not sure where to put this note, but Six Flags has decided to shut down Astroworld and sell the property.

Apparently the land is worth more than the amusement park.

WOW is about time, I always thought Astroworld was dirty and boring, I acctualy bought me a 04 season pass and used it twise. I think it was Viper that had a little pond with dirty GREEN water, the water on every ride smelled like piss and the rides where dirty and most of them sucked even the "new" Diablo Falls wich is too small. Most of the rides where broke or wherent open. I remenber last year I saw a Nemo and Sponge Bob stuffed animal as a prize in the arcade and I thought to my self "isn't this suposed to be a Looney Tunes park" and they weren't even the real thing they were boleged LOL. I'm not happy nor sad about this.

It'll be REAL NICE if another park opens up specially a DISNEY Park , Sea World , or a Sesame Street (I think there's one close to Philly). Just imagen DISNEY in Houston I think it'll be a good choice 3rd coast Disney WOW. I wonder what the would call it maybe Disney Universe LMAO. The impact it'll have on Houston, I think it should be built near downtown or uptown maybe near downtown they could tear down those rundown houses.

    Just my thoughts

One think ill miss Dungen Drop and SWAT......

  5. The Galleria always have Simon Security.

The residential component to the Galleria is being looked into by the Simon Group and they are looking at the Macy's location to do this.

I'm not really happy to hear that the old Macy's could be turned into a residential tower. I've always thought what if Saks Fifth Avenue would move there and that way they could turn Saks into more stores and that way Galleria 3 would be more easy to access, either that or Macy's turned into more stores that could be easily accessed through a tunnel like passage that could be drill in Galleria 2 that would go through the parking garage into Galleria 3. They could use those automatic sidewalks that you just stand there and they move you like the ones in Las Vegas.

That's just my thoughts I always hate how weird it is to access Galleria 3........

Mervyns chain will leave Houston area

    Associated Press

I wonder what will go in the Memorail City One. I have all ways thought that store did not belong there. But it seemed to always be crowded.

    logo.gif

Mervyn's isn't the only one that doesn't belong in Memorial City Mall TARGET and SEARS need to GO! I always think if those stores would leave, Memorial City Mall would look and be a lot nicer and sorta upscale. Maybe they can make Mervyn's into more restaurants, and Sears and Target into more stores or another department store or even a parking garage LMAO. N*E*Who what's gonna happend to the Lord & Taylor spot? With Foley's turned into a Macy's maybe another High-End deparment store would take its spot.

    another Nordstrom wouldn't hurt.....

  7. tech_segway.jpg

(3/03/04) — At first sight of the Segway Human Transporter, most onlookers' reactions range from from amazement to confusion. That's because the sight of the "It" or "Ginger" is still unusual to most of the public, but the inventor and enthusiasts behind the Segway want to change that.

Houston businessman Wayne Kinsey has a long history with the transporter. He bid over $100,000 to charity for the bragging rights of being the first to own one.

"It's a simpler, easier way to get around," Kinsey said. "To us it's like the first car, first airplane, first computer - it's the type of technology that's a first of its kind. A lot of people were thinking, 'what's wrong with this guy, is he nuts?' No one would spend that kind of money."

Kinsey loved the 'It' so much that he's decided to sell 'It' himself. He's picked the Houston Galleria to be the first Segway retail dealer in America. Although with price tags a lot cheaper than what he originally paid, at around $4000 for the two different sized models, they're still not pocket change.

I know I've always wonder where in The Galleria this store was. I remember when Galleria 4 was almost completed reading somewhere that The Segway store was opening among other stores but I've never seen it. I even looked it up in their website and they have a Post Oak address and a number but I've never called it, The Galleria's website isn't that much of a help because there's some stores they don't add in theire Store Directory like Nordstrom and Bernini. Maybe it is in The Galleria but I've NEVER seen it........

  8. Oh, also, what's "LUCY"? Is it one of those I Love Lucy collectible stores?

And I didn't notice House of Blues on that list the first time I looked at it, but House of Blues is a good time, the food isn't fantastic or anything, but it's a fun atmosphere.

I think its gonna be Lucy like the one in Highland Village next to Sharper Image. Its good to see sorta upscale stores in Downtown atleast tourist and downtown residents would have a good shopping store mix, too bad most stores are gonna cater to the ladies.

  9. Have any of yall herd what rapper Kanye West said about Bush, something about "President Bush don't care about black people" and "When people see on the news black people are looting and white people are getting food". I personaly think he needs to shut his fu**ing mouth up. I know Bush isn't the best President we've had but I hate it when people blame politics (presidents) without knowing how the system works. People think Bush has a little magic wann and he can make things happend with it. I also know the whole Katrina situation wasn't handle like it should have been and if I was a politician I would have done everything in my power to get all those people out of there.....

Well as for Kanye West he's an IDIOT insted of him spending millions in stupid ____ he should help those people, in other words he should put his money where his mouth is.

  10. Laundry by Shelli Segal is a bridge level brand of women's clothing. there are maybe 3 or 4 in the country. it's not a "premier" brand but still a coveted trendy line. Mexx is a ctually a Dutch brand now coming to the US. it's like Zara but less trend driven. very impressive that Houston would be getting these stores before other markets on the East Coast. looks like this center will be more about emerging, hip brands and more mainstream lines than full on designer like the Galleria.

Dutch, German same thing yall get my point.

  11. You have your Marshall Fields history confused.  They were never at Greenspoint, Memorial City, or West Oaks.  They WERE in Town & Country and, of course, The Galleria.

and they were in West Oaks and Greenspoint too. (Memorial City) I might have gotten it mixed up with Town & Country my mistake its been like 10 years since they left..... I know most people don't belive that Marshall Field's was at Greenspoint but I still remember picking up family from Bush Int' and going to Greenspoint and shopping at Marshall Field's, keep in mind that when Greenspoint opened and was a very nice mall, I haven't been there since I was like 12......

  12. What is laundry mexx?

I really was hoping a bookstore would go in.  I love bookstores, and they offer a place for tourists to just waste time without actually spending money.

Glad to see some lighter disscusions are still up - I hope the city/county (who ever) will offer the incentives these guys want to get this stuff off the ground.  It will take a couple of developments like this to really jump start downtown - and bring in the residential in high numbers.

My mistake its two different tendants (Mexx and Laundrys) and I have no clue what Laundry is, Mexx is a German based casual apparel store kinda like Eddie Bauer and Gap.

  13. Cole Haan is opening a second store in Houston its gonna be located at (you guessted) The Galleria. The only thing is that its going to be for women only. I always thought the Cole Haan store in Highland Village was too small. Kona Grill is opening next year among other restaurants at the old Lord & Taylor spot. Custo Barcelona is opening next year too I don't know where but I'm guessing at the Galleria or somewhere in Uptown.

    Houston Pavillion tendants will include

    Lucky Brand

    bebe

    Forever 21

    House of Blues

    Virgin Megastore

    BCBG

    bebe Sport

    Lucy

    Laundry

    Mexx

    Among more....

I relly didn't think Downtown would ever see these stores specially the chi chi ones but then again downtown needs every retail chain it can get
