  2. too hot for me I am glad I live downtown even though there is no mall to speak of as of yet *eelimon has his finger crossed for his support to build The Pavvillion!* and yes I know it will be open air mall type too, but atleast it won't be surrounded by a sea of asphalt!
  3. Well I hope it happens Houston does need transportation options. And Light Rail on surface streets won
  4. I think just as long as there are no chemicals in the bayou from the chemical and oil refineries down stream it would look as good as it can. I mean after the clean up. My biggest fear is that once this project is complete people will begin to get sick from chemicals being dumped deliberately or otherwise. I also would not like to see three eyed frogs, five headed water snakes, or shark size minnows.
  5. Well then I gues I had you all worng then Coog I will read that old tread. I cant find that old topic chucks
  6. I do think Frank Gehry lates style fits the city very well. I would describe his work as chaotic organization. Yes, I do think his work is an oxymoron, but given the nature of this city
  7. I was just playing; yes I have been reading the thread. I was only joking, because you are obviously republican. I have nothing more to say in this thread *eelimon sighs*

  10. It was the Spectrum it suffered a harsh blow after TinselTown Started building stadium seating out in the Suburbs. Then the property was sold to a developer who built luxury apartment on the land
  11. I thought he fell of a cliff in 2003 while working for a movie company?
  12. Why you have to bring in your politics into this Coog? Besides Louisiana has always had a bad reputation with Government leadership. No matter if it was democrat, republican, or independent. I believe that in Texas local governments, i.e. mayors, are supposed to be nonpartisan. I think Coog is having delusions because Tom Delay was indicted today. Read the following from the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/A...estigation.html
  13. What about taking Hwy 6 to the 290 that is not a two lane FM road? Agreed It does not matter if you are against this road it will get built. It definitely does not matter if yall are griping about it on HAIF it will get built
  14. I said this befor on a related topic I think the region needs the grand parkway, but I wish politicians would move this fast when it comes to MASS TRANSIT!

  18. Initially I was NOT going to leave my downtown high rise apartment. Since I live in this awful high rise I had to take some precautions. I know that the higher you are winds speeds are stronger. On Wednesday I was watching the news and Rita was a Cat 5, but projected to go to a Cat 4 and the eye was to hit south of the Galveston. The eastern part of the storm then would be hitting Houston and Galveston. I got on the road it took me 8 1/2 hrs to get to family in Lufkin. Shamefully, I cut a lot of the time by driving through medians, the free way shoulders, store parking lots, 59 business highways that go through certain towns, back roads, and one dirt road. Otherwise, I think it would have taken me about 15 hours to drive what usually takes 2 hours. By the time I got there the storm had shifted, now I would have driven back into Houston, but I had no idea if and when counter-flow lines would be opened on the 59 for evacuees. Plus my family did not want us to go back. Redscarem, do you think I am a puppy for leaving? I kind of have to say maybe, but in my defense I was influenced by the media and my family.
  19. Next time I plea, ask, request, or however ya
  20. Great point! My imagination is going wild here. I would love to see recliner style seating. I would pay a premium for that. I say about $15-$17 per-person. Concession stands would serve better food. They could have a waiter service via remote; you could click on a touch screen, and select what ever you want. The servers could walk up and down the isle with night vision goggles. Seating could accommodate foot space for servers to get to any seat.
