  1. It certainly has been interesting though.... Not sure if we'll get to see another such a high stakes game of Risk being played anytime soon.
  2. Figure I would share our pickem scores with the rest of Haif. Sowanome is destroying us through 3 weeks and is in the 93rd percentile of all ESPN players. Congrats to Aggie92 and TimmyChan for being the first to forget your weekly picks. Haify history tells us that it will happen to us all at some point. 1 Sowanome - 42 - 40 - 52 = 134 2 Distribaire PE - 41 - 42 - 43 = 126 3. The Pragmatist -38 - 46 - 35 = 119.9 4 20thStDad 41 - 38 - 37 = 116.9 5 RedScare82 - 30 - 42 - 43 = 115 6 Highway6 - 35 - 34 - 44 = 113 7 Aggie92 - 40 - 40 = 80 8 Timmy Chan - 38 - 32 = 70
  3. Rivals don't need to be in the same conference to play. FL-FLST , GA-GT, SC-Clemson, CO-Co St, ND-USC I was perfectly happy being in a different conference as the longhorns, if we could maintain our game. Course, in the past month, the constant longhorn fan chatter of "Screw em, OU's our real rival anyways".. it's grating on me. I could care less at this point. I expect the series to go by the wayside for 5-10 yrs so the Whorns can feel like they taught us a lesson. It will be sad to not have the game, but at this point, if I had to stay in conf with them in ordere to keep the game, I say quit em, it's not worth staying. I'm not sure if I believe the most recent chatter that Texas to the PAC is back on. All the chatter is coming out of Austin, namely Chip Brown and Kirk Bhols, and they were wrong about the PAC last yr and were wrong about the ACC last week. I don't see why the PAC is caving in as much as the recent reports state. They hold every card. The Aggie in me hopes the PAC says no way Jose, not until the LHN is adios... thus forcing Texas to go Indy or head up the Texas SWC conference.. because, either way, they'll more likely be forced to schedule us to get their SOS up. Big East is a basketball conference in a football world. That was the whole point of their founding. Luckily though, you may be wrong... a) if recent rumors are correct, Uconn may be school #15 to the ACC and b ).. I read in one of the pressers that MSG stands a good chance of being put in the rotation for the ACC finals. Assuming the BE or B12 doesn't go down without a fight, we might end up with 5x 16 team super conferences... then Lord knows how that's gonna go down with the transition from BCS to eventual +1, 8 team playoffs.
  4. I'm less concerned with What, as I am When, since I'm dealing with IRA funds.. finite, but good options. I made a killing in a REIT index fund.
  5. The market is so schizo. Anyone wanna guess as to where the bottom will be ? I was starting to feel at beginning of the month, that perhaps I'd missed the optimal time to buy back in. Of course, then last week happened. A month ago, we were throwing around the idea of a double dip... but we really haven't moved much since then. My gut says, we might be at the bottom, but I'm not yet willing to put my IRA back into play. The Dow's high was 12810. That was 136 days ago and it has since lost 13.66% The S&P500 is off 14.7% from it's high in roughly the same amount of time. Anyone know how that compares to other market corrections in the past ?
  6. That was an inside Haif joke... just wanted to see if s3mh's head exploded. But in all seriousness.. I've really heard it's going to be a Sam's Club Express, first of it's kind.
  7. Forgot to rank em... c'est la vie. Not sure if Miss St over Auburn counts as an upset, so my only real upset pick this weak is BYU over texas. Utah over USC was tempting...
  8. So... Foley Fan Club party at your place tonight ??
  9. Man.. Did i cheer for the wrong team last weekend or what... Effin Baylor !! And Effin TCU for losing to effin Baylor !! Baylor has always wanted a rivalry game with us? You got it Aholes, for 1 game only.... i hope we hang 100 on em then break RG3's legs. My picks are in. First game is 11am tomorrow. I'd plan on getting your picks in by 10. College Football pick'em over at ESPN.
  10. TOO FAST TOO FAST... It's all jumpy warp speed; think it's gonna give me a seizure.
  11. Such a consumer of arms.... It seems a 700 SF home could be defended with a fraction of that arsenal.
  12. Watching ND suck and ND fans suffer brings me so much joy.
  13. (Aggies are special.) RG III is special.. he's a monster. I meant that sorta big picture, history of college football, level... not literally 1 quarter of football. Yes.. They've been good. But they weren't turning heads much before Dalton... and now they're turning heads for the wrong reasons. They look terrible. Big East is watching this game wondering if they picked up the right team.
  14. Side bet - Since it's not on this weekend's slate of games due to being on a Friday night. I'm picking Baylor over TCU. TCU has lost too many starters and their 15 minutes are up.
  15. Woo hoo hoooo 7 in... Who's next ???
  16. Yeah.. Indie punk from Prague.. Go check em out.
  17. Happy Happy ! Joy Joy !! It's certainly been fun watching the sports twittersphere speculate and explode the past few weeks, and this is certainly the outcome this Aggie wanted, but I'm ready to get this over with so the fans can focus on the season. I expect to see a press conference with Slive and Loftin tomorrow. College Football pick'em over at ESPN. Group name: Haif 2011 password : Haif
  18. I think your poll answers should have been in 500 SF ranges up to 3000+ 5000 is a ridiculous choice that would be hard enough to find much less afford by your average Houstonian. With that, i think the most telling answers would have been for those that are married and intend to start a family (the status quo), who picks 1500-2000 (desire to try to live small but stay realistic with a growing family) vs 2000-2500 (typical suburban, 3/3 or 4/3 American dream.. the status quo). So I think your poll choices suck since you have 1000-2500 as one choice. Yup. That would be mine if I chose to participate, but i won't since it would also be meaningless. PS - Your family of 4 example ( or was that too not an example ) -- It's disingenuous to even bring it up considering we both know that no family of 4 is living in 500 SF because they want to. They aren't choosing to "live small". They aren't living in a silver RV from the 50s in order to be hip or save the earth. And since this is directed to Haifers and is a poll... it's about choice, not necessity. Guess now i understand your poll choices (user answers)... Is any family living in over 1000 SF wasteful to you ?
  19. You have links. Those links contain numerous houses around 500 SF. Those could be said to be indicative of the SF you think should be appropriate of a small house. They are your examples. Did you or did you not decide and then type what the poll choices would be? For the users, those would be our answers. Seriously, in the short time you've been here, your level of combativeness has been incredibly off putting. You knew damn well what I was referring too in both my points.
  20. Are your examples coming from the perspective of a single and childless person ? A Home for 1 at present and for the future ? I wish your poll answers were a little more realistic and with small enough ranges to be indicative of anything.
  21. Yankees are such pansies. OO000oooo. Earthquakes and Hurricanes.. Run for the hills !!!
  22. My first thoughts at the beginning of the week as it became clear Irene was going to affect the East Coast ...jealousy. Where the hell is our hurricane? East coast doesn't need it.. we do.
