This will not age well. I'm afraid this is what the one on Sunset will look like and I"m sorry.
The steel is going up now on the Sunset site. I hope he has figured out how to put up scaffolding. The neighbors should be forewarned.
This is what the one on Sunset will look like.

Stream are the guys who couldn't get 22 Waugh off the ground, so I hope they've got their financial ducks lined up.
What does Stream have to do with this ?

I wonder if there is even a single trailer park inside the loop, being from Channelview, I had to ask.
Yep, I know there is one off Airline before you get to Calvacade in The Heights/Brookesmith area.

I was hoping that the office and residential would be built above the retail.

Much rather see the single story shopping centers redeveloped first.

Heard today from a resident of Inverness that he expects a move out letter in May and that the complex will be demolished this summer. He also stated that it will be a office building.

Haven't heard anything about that...
Since it's not the one planned on the TI land, then were will the one you are talking about be located ?

The new Simon outlet mall planned on the TI property ?

Which is why houston is and always will be ugly. It takes no effort to keep vines from literally choking out trees, and people accept it here for some strange reason. Hwy 59 has so much potential, but the vines look aweful, and literally haven't been trimmed since the freeway was completed. Thankfully, the guys redoing buffalo bayou are addressing the invasive vines and removing them. That's my opinion, but clearly not shared by everyone.
So Houston is "ugly" because of vines? . . . Seems exaggerated in my opinion. Also the vines on 59 were planted on purpose.

We can barely get a 40 story office building downtown what the hell is Dallas going to do with 2 80 story and 2 60 story buildings containing 3 million sqft of office space. . .

And another mall...
Another mall ?

There is just too much other competition for residential high rise in Houston right now to build where sales may be harder to come by because of the high amount of negative PR.
If this is built they will have no problem leasing the building up. The people moving into the building won't care about the negative PR. There may be other high rise buildings going up in Houston but none are going up in that neighborhood. They won't have any competition.

The Aloft will go at 820 Fannin. Same block as BG Place. Not this building.

The curtain wall on the Southwest corner of the building was really torn up by the falling crane. Didnt have time to get a pic, but will try tomorrow.
Wrong building, that happened at Mac Haik's Energy a Tower IV.
-
Says he is closing on less then half a acre so it won't be a full block.
-
I know.
I took it as sarcasm that we already know they are building a 40 story high rise there that will cover up that wall?
The 40 story highrise that's going up across the street from the grey wall of the Houston ballet building will only block the view of the wall from the east. I am talking about a residential building being built directly next to the Houston ballet building on the vacant parking lot surrounded by Preston St., Lousiana St., and Congress St. No Sarcasm.

Hopefully that grey wall won't be there long, there have been rumors floating around for years that a residential tower is planned for that site.

So when is the Cadillac dealership finally gonna move out and sell to another residential developer? Its officially sandwiched in and out of place.
When the superblock retail is built out across the street, with the Reef/Proof building to the west, and Mongoose/Cobra/Leons Lounge to the east, that dealership totally destroys all continuity of what could be a continuous 3 block walkable stretch of activity.
It would be nice if they did something like Audi did with the multi story building, and sold the rest of the land to a developer.

Aren't they planning a Building 6?
I believe someone said that they are planning 6 more buildings.

..ummm the two 12 story Hughes Landing buildings are already topped out. There are four up; they announced the Embassy Suites recently. ..maybe that's the new crane?
He is talking about Three Hughes Landing another 12 story office building to go up in Hughes Landing, not the two built for Exxon. This building will front the lake like One & Two Hughes Landing. It's the 5th office building to go up.

I believe this block is suppose to be residential. I'm sure it will have retail because it required to receive the incentives. Not sure how tall it will be.

Forget the light, how tall will they have to build to have a 400 unit multifamily building in the lot to the west?
It should be tall, this area should not be built out with single story buildings. It should not be a sea of single story shopping centers with parking lots. Should be multi leveled buildings with parking garages.

I hope that this development won't keep Gables from moving foward with their Post Oak tower. Hopefully they will both be built.

Passed by this afternoon on Post Oak Park Dr. on the East side of the building, the parking lot was busted up and pushed into a large mound. Also there were several freshly cut down trees laying around. Lots of construction workers walking around and some bulldozers on site.
