  1. The Exxon building would cost more to renovate than for a new building due to abatement. Exxon owns the lot across the street and has a plan to build a new office, and tear down the original Exxon building to make way for a parkign garage. But like I said abatement before demolition would be incredibly costly.

What is your source on this. Despite how I would like a new tower downtown, I hope this does not happen.

  2. As far as I know he decided against Pearland, not Sugar Land.
So I think we have pretty much ruled out Sugar Land as well as FM1960 area on that basis.

Also what part of town do you commute to? Sorry if you mentioned this, but I skimmed your posts and don't think you mentioned it.

  3. I will just copy a post of mine from another thread.

"Umm no, the current rail line is going to stay, and future rail lines will have rails installed and covered. BRT will ride on the path (somewhat similar to LRT, slightly reduced capacity, and still technically a bus). When ridership demands it, the lines will be uncovered, overhead wires put in, and trains will ride on the tracks. This was done to speed up construction of the lines. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the line from UH to uptown will be LRT."

If you want more info read the Bill White changes rail plan thread. (it is something like that)

  4. But i could swear I heard they were replacing the rail lines with buses....
