The city's database shows a demo permit on file as of Jan. 10 for 1212 Milby Street. This parcel has been for sale since last year -- there was a large for sale/lease sign out front for many months. Per the listing agent's web site, it sold at some point. https://www.colliers.com/en/properties/sold-70585-sf-building-on-311-acres/usa-1212-milby-street-houston-tx-77023/usa1093132

This warehouse in EaDo on St. Charles (across from Be Fit Gym and caddy corner from EaDo Bike Co.) has been vacant and up for lease for a while. Today I noticed two banners for Gin Design Group on the building, facing the Columbia Tap Rail Trail. I’m wondering if they could be considering a buildout to attract a bar/restaurant tenant? The bottling facility on Leeland at Milby, which operated under the LLC Caledonia Water Co., has been seemingly vacant for some time. What used to be a full parking lot now has one, maybe two cars occasionally. The LLC lapsed in 2022. The property was once put up for sale and lease by HCAD-listed owner Jane Nguyen (also the now-lapsed water LLC's officer, president, and director) on myriad web sites. Recently, it was pulled. https://www.showcase.com/3719-leeland-st-houston-tx-77003/23772485/ https://www.crexi.com/properties/680523/texas-industrialcommercial-warehouses-house-land-for-sale On Dec. 7, permits for this location were on file at CoH for Aragoso, a Maryland-based wholesale distributor of Brazilian beer, wine, and spirits. Aragoso has US-based locations in Florida and Texas, per its web site: https://aragosotexas.com/home/ The Texas region does not currently list Houston.

Not sure if this is new "roiling" or a known development (also technically EaDo), but I'm adding it here: Sunrise Lofts - 89 Units with 81 designated as Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief https://csd.harriscountytx.gov/Documents/Table of Selected CDBG-DR Affordable Rental Projects 051920 - website.pdf Recent (3/22/21) plan review permit states 64,086 sq ft apts with amenities. As a kid growing up in the 60's & 70's we use to live way South of the dome but had lots of relatives living in East End, Denver Harbor and up to Liberty Road. My Dad use to take the scenic route through downtown and over to N. York. Well just as we would pass Navigation on the right hand side of York were these 2 large pillars (shaped like the San Jacinto Monument). I always wondered what they were and what purpose they served? They are made of concrete and have finials on the tops. They kind of look like an entrance of sorts. Any idea as to what they are or what they use to be? Here is the street view link from google. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...9359481196,,0,5

Drove by here today to make sure my 311 request for illegal dumping had actually been addressed at this property, and noticed a truck taking soil samples on site. This is a lot over near the silos, essentially across the street from where the Marquette proposal at 400 Jensen is slated to (eventually) go up. Google search did not return anything. HCAD search also came up empty. Anybody have any idea what might be going on here?

I sometimes go on N. Velasco St. to fly my drone from when taking pics of the "Pointe at Bayou Bend" aka 800 Middle apartment project. Almost every time I drive down it lately, I see workers either surveying or today a crew removing the train tracks and the railroad ties. This property belongs to Southern Pacific Railroad Company. There used to be at least 5 rail lines or maybe more a long time ago. I recall seeing lots and lots of new but aged bundles of lumber and maybe sheetrock the very first time I ever rode down this. One time I rode all the to the end of the rail because there was an old rail car sitting on the end of the line. I'm curious what may be planned for this property.

Was surprised there wasn't a post for this address yet, had to finally stop lurking and create an account to make sure it was posted. The site of the former King Fuels gas station has been boarded up for a few months, and I've seen demolition dumpsters next to the building. There is a continuous security fence around both the gas station site, as well as the vacant lot behind it. The combined site looks to be a total of 1.04 AC per this LoopNet advertisement. I believe the structure shown at the bottom of the picture below was demolished a while ago. Would love to see this site developed into a mixed-use mid-rise with some ground level retail given its proximity to the Coffee Plant station on the Green Line.

I have seen a lot of activity at the warehouse on the north side of the Dowling-Polk intersection. They have replaced all of the windows and the upper level has been given a new stucco exterior finish with green-toned paint. Looks like it could be highrise lofts or something like that. Anyone know for sure?

https://houston.eater.com/2021/6/8/22524607/eighty-two-pinball-gaming-bar-open-east-downtown-houston A new bar offering local beer, craft cocktails, and rotating selection of vintage arcade games is now open in Houston’s Greater East End. Eighty Two opened quietly at 1201 Saint Emanuel Street, Suite 110, last month. The bar, which spans two floors and includes an indoor skylit atrium, joins a handful of other gaming bars nearby, including longstanding hangout Eighteen Twenty Lounge, just north of Minute Maid Park; comic book-themed spot Neil’s Bahr on Walker; and the recently-opened Bishop Cidercade on Canal Street. What sets Eighty Two apart is that the games are rotated out on a regular basis, making for a new experience with every visit. About 45 vintage arcade games, and 15 pinball machines, are available for play at any given time, chosen from a selection of about 150 consoles. As a bar, Eighty Two offer 10 taps worth of craft beer and a menu of signature cocktails including the Princess Peach, with vodka and peach puree, and the Wizard Mode, with rye, cold brew coffee and vanilla black tea. There’s no food on the menu, but Eighty Two shares a building with Vinny’s Pizza and is a few doors down from Rodeo Goat, for some pre- or -post-gaming eats. Happy hour at the bar lasts until 10 p.m. every night. Founders Scott Davids and Noah Sutcliffe, who have been friends since childhood, first opened Eighty Two in Los Angeles in 2014. They chose Houston for their second location because of the city’s bustling hospitality scene, according to a press release. Davids and Sutcliffe are passionate about preserving arcade and pinball culture, and the play prices at Eighty Two reflect that, with arcades going for a quarter a game and pinball going for 50 cents a play. There is no charge for entry. All the games are serviced and restored on site. Eighty Two also plans to host arcade and pinball tournaments, which will be streamed live on Twitch. Eight Two is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Earlier this week I was researching the Baker Ripley family. They even built the Savoy Apartments turned Hotel! Architect who designed the building was none other than Maurice Sullivan. I saw a photo of the old building, must been built in the 1940s. However, there wasn't an exact location, an address, to be found. Later on, I found the address! Text on the building states ? Baker Ripley Foundation An article from the newspaper The Bellaire Texan dated June 29, 1977.
