  1. The street level lobby of the building could use some work. My CU is on the 59th Floor. What a view.
  2. Yes, but Gulfgate is still trying to overcome its old stigma. My neighbor always drove to Bellaire becuase "she does not like Gulfgate". Uh, OK. The posh statment was a joke towards some who refuse to do anything "outside the Loop."
  3. UH, no. How about an example? Chances there are neighborhoods behind that Home Depot. Anyway, you should just drive to Gulfgate. There is a Lowes and Home Depot. Much easier than the Bellaire traffic IMHO, and it's still in the Loop for those who want to remain Posh.
  4. Yep, that's it. Somewhere under the "G" in Galleria. That lot used to be so easy to park in, but it has been really busy the last few years. What a beautiful picture!
  5. It does seem like a no-brainer to have one.
  6. Actually, looking at the map, it may just have an exit outside. It's designated at "B" on this map at street level: http://www.simon.com/mall/show_floorplan.aspx?ID=805
  7. Would this route be designed for visitors or residents? Lonely Planet says don't visit Houston without a car. I guess this would work if you only were going to/from downtown. For visitors: 1. How do we promote it? 2. Do we have the infrastructure for people to get around without a car once they get here? For residents: 1. Where do I park my car? 2. Do I take a bus to the DTTC? 3. How much time do I want to spend getting to the airport?
  8. It's across from Sharper Image. There is a street level exit close by, but not sure if they have a door.
  9. The Galleria III location seems like a risky proposal. Even Coach moved to the good part of the mall.
  10. We went to Rock-a-Bowl in Clear Lake when I was a teenager. I could definetly see that working downtown.
  11. Seems like less than a year ago that building had an S&B Enginering sing, but it was for sale.
  12. Must be fairly recent, becuase I can see the Univision building.
  13. Town Homes would be better than apartments for Midtown. I don't want Midtown to turn into antoher Gulfton in 20 years.
  14. I wish the city could create pocket parks with some of these vacant lots. I am not a big fan of apartments to begin with. We need them, but I wonder what these places will look like in 20 years. Seems like we could do better in the city's core.
  15. That's a prime block, and has already been cleared. Keep an eye on that hood. There won't be many lots left soon. I'd like to fix up one of the brick Tudors, but the Thrid Ward is Not For Sale gang might not appreciate that.
  16. Thank goodness it's elevated 30'. White Oak Bayou is a little close for comfort.
  17. We have been down this path before on the old board on this same subject. Not sure what some people expect from a Target next to an Interstate, but keep dreaming. Target wants to you drive to their store. Why? So you can load up on stuff and spends lots of money.
  18. "How does asking for a little thought behind the design bring up such a well of pent-up frustration" You must a the whiz at reading land use studies. If you can actually envision the finished product from a fuzzy .pdf land use study, you are a better man than I.
  19. Agree. I am starting to think y'all are smoking crack. It's a freaking Target, and people are going to drive their cars to it. What do you expect them to do? Take the bus or rail and schlep all their goods home in a buggy? That looks good on TV, but try it in the real world. It's next to I-10, and we all know about I-10. This fantasy land "urban target" is just that. A fantasy.
  20. What in the world is a "true urban style development" Where can I find one in Houston?
  21. That part of town needs it. Never liked the San Felipe location. Too much bad karma from Loop 610. I'd normally just drive from Midtown to the one near Reliant. It's like going to the UN. You'll hear TONS of languages at that place, and I am not talking about Espanol.
  22. Suburban makes sense for this spot. Walking next to I-10 is not exactly everyone's cup of tea.
  23. is it just me, or is this building an ugly blight on our preimier parkway?
  24. it's a behemoth kinda steals some nice charm from Allen Parkway it'll fit in nicely next to all the "lux" apartments.
  25. Is this the site that will house locals only retail?
