  1. I think I saw some with bored piles. Or maybe that is part of the floating foundation. I am getting into a topic I don't know enough about.
  2. It is just the style of support they choose to use. The Post Oak tower did the same. Most seem to use pilings. Probably based on geotech data and costs.
  3. Hard to compare Austin and Houston. They are getting a ton of tech money and jobs pumped into the city. The downtown district is vibrant with Rainey St, 6th, all the concert venues, UT, Town Lake, ect. Houston isn't Austin or Dallas and shouldn't expect to build like them.
  4. AAC is adjacent to downtown. This would be like if they developed Midtown here around a stadium. I've been to that area in Dallas and it is always dead. Lot's of density but no real vibe. And downtown Dallas is worse that Houston for nightlife. The Deep Ellum side is nice even if quickly gentrifying. I remember that while area used to be a wasteland of parking lots and now it is filling in nice there too.
  5. And yet the Mavs are already looking to build a new arena. I don't care if the arena is dated or ugly. Unless these billionaires want to self finance a stadium, I don't want to see more taxpayers giving the ultra rich more tax breaks and stadium funds. Share the profit then if you need public money.
  6. Good to see a strip mall go but too bad its one that kept its retro look and not one that is a bigger eyesore.
  7. Depends how they sized and permitted it with Harris County Flood Control. I assume this building was included in the design of the current pond or they wouldn't be starting without having the pond in place first.
  8. Really nice what they did around this building. Hopefully, additional phase start soon so it isn't all out on it's own.
  9. RD and his daughter have taste that is 100% opposite of whatever I would ever want.
  10. I saw that. There are also some new(?) houses/townhouses going in down Airport closer to Almeda and then more going in east of 288. Plus a whole lot of new warehouses/distribution centers going in along 288 as well. Just massive development. But that area has need an influx of jobs and development. This should also provide a lot of blue collar jobs which should be locally supported.
  11. I drove that recently when 610/288 was awful. I was wondering if it would ever be developed. Great news for that area.
  12. I had an apartment in college that was four bedroom with individual contracts. We had a friend back out and took a fourth random person in that the apartment found. It was a nightmare. Awful roommate who never chipped in for utilities. It is a good concept but sucks when you get stuck with a dud.
  13. Looks like something I would see an average suburban subdivision HOA have set up between the pool and basketball court.
  14. The lack of GFR is really disappointing. Of all places, this one makes a lot of sense to have GFR.
  15. Now I really wish the Disco Kroger development was something more than a wrap. At least the former Mattress Firm/Specs/Half Price Books location should also be a sustainable development. But if the Disco Kroger location would have also been a high rise, it would really have a nice affect on the area.
