I like the design but the shape of the mid section throws me off. Also completely blocks the apartment tower of Downtown views.
It’s very Hudson Yards-esque. A blue glass behemoth that sticks out like a sore thumb just a little bit.
I say this all in a good way. It’ll be awesome for the TMC and Houston!

Take the same pictures in July and see if there's a noticeable difference. Maybe with the demise of suit and tie workwear things will liven up during the summer.
Interesting to see whether there are fewer people walking in the heat. No need to wait for July... it’ll be 93° tomorrow. 😅

Great picture of our ever growing skyline.
Coming from the Great Plains/Midwest that cloud looking thing in the middle of the photo would cause serious anxiety.
That’s the deer park fire, I believe

Don't need 'em.
I'd rather we get buildings that look good from the sidewalk, rather than from a helicopter, freeway or rendering. You can actually get tons of density at mid-rise heights as long as you don't surround the buildings with surface parking or green space that no one ever sets foot in. They've also managed to keep the internal rights-of-way reasonably narrow.
Cities like Paris and Barcelona achieve really high densities with essentially nothing over 8 stories.

Are any of the towers included in phase 1?
This is from April of 2017, so it may not be up to date:
“Phase one of the project will include a luxury hotel and condominium tower, retail pavilion and office building with more than 200,000 square feet of space.”

Any information on this McNair development? It certainly contains the "wow" factor.
I think groundbreaking is set for some time next year.

That could be enough to bump it to tallest residential in Houston, right?
Emporis has this building listed at 40 floors and 498 ft.
This puts it 3 feet behind OPP and 5 feet behind the current tallest residential tower: The Huntingdon.
If the floor count has been increased to 41 floors, than yes, I would assume that when completed, This would be the tallest residential tower in Houston.

I believe the rug store on that site closed within the last few days.Ok off today will go walk over there. I will also go see where Hanover is building the 39 floor highrise off Steel St. Last I saw the property was no activity last time I checked.
-
What is the floor count anyone that knows?
I think 37-38. It should be topped out by the end of the year.

its the 102 story mixed use hotel, apartment, office building, with GROUND FLOOR RETAIL!!!!

If you're going to post rumors, at least provide all of the information.
It's a 102-story W Hotel.
I believe you have made a mistake. The 102-story tower is proposed for the corner of Bissonnet and Ashby.

Is there anything that can be done to make the waters of buffalo bayou a little more blue?

Sure hope the retail at this location is something other than a target. downtown shopping district should be something of a destination, not a place to grab some TP and pantene on your way home from work.
With all of the new residential development in Downtown, a target would do really well. Whee else can someone buy some TP and Pantene in downtown? People living in DT, shouldn't have to leave DT to buy basic necessities.

From the Chronicle:
"Texas Central Partners, which aims to build the nation's first bullet train between Texas' two biggest cities, announced Wednesday they'd raked in $75 million in private investments in the company's first round of fundraising. That money will allow the ambitious $10 billion project to move forward from feasibility studies to development planning."
Also, I think I saw something about this in The New York Times a couple of weeks ago.

Where is the best place for a super tall now? Where is the gap that would be nice to fill too?
One block South of One Park Place or the block bound by Milam, Clay, Travis, and Bell.

Why is 334 moving so slowly?
Time is interest and interest is money.
I wonder what has caused the seemingly slow pace of construction?
I believe there was a design change.
