VicMan
I know there is something being built along 288 between 610 and Beltway 8 but I am not sure what it is... - I think it's some business. I would love to know what it is
robhan
Houston at one time was 70% white and anyone would have bet that blacks would have became the majority in the future but the hispanic population exploded. Davis HS used to be white as well as Sam Houston. What changed the cities demogaphis was a little noticed ruling by then AG Mark White whic declared singles only apartmant complexs to be against the law. This opened up southwest and west houston apartments to minorities. and lower income whites. The vast majority of the newcomers were hard working folk. Once again whites headed further west and into other counties. The reason why the area south of 610 will not be developed is unless it grows so fast with moderate to expensive houses and warents another HISD hs then most of the parents no matter what their color will not sned their children to precieved inferior schools. Crestmont is indeed zoned to Sterling.
hbcu
it's a business park off 288...the singles only thing isn't such a bad idea using hindsight.....but at time, Chicago Housing went under fire for funneling minorities into housing projects so they probably tried to avoid lawsuits...you would think families would stay out of small apartments but the welfare system encouraged that kind of stuff
