This is an original Eames chair once owned by local hero, Howard Barnstone. I grew up in the house he lived in up until 1975, and this was one of many things left behind. I believe it is from the early fifties or so- it was in this condition when we moved into the house in 1975 and had been used as porch furniture (Yes!) for some time. I love it, but I've decided to sell it because it's taking up space and I don't ever use it. I've had it long enough and it's time for a new home. I am also including one of his architectural models for a project in New York.

The chair is in decent shape, but does need repair- the shock mounts are shot and the hardware to attach the back is missing. There's a company in California that sells it:<http://www.humemodern.com/sales/sales.html>. The finish is OK, considering - the finish on the legs is original and could be left as is but the seat and back need refinishing. There are a few nicks and scratches- the only reallly big ones are on the rear of the seat back. The plywood is still all together. So- it needs some TLC, but it's a unique item- it would be worth it to the right person. I thought about selling it on eBay, but feel I should sell to someone who would appreciate its history and keep it in Houston.

The model is for a project in New York at 63 Wall Street. It's in rotten shape- I believe my parents stored it in an old shipping container on my grandpa's farm for about 30 years. It shows. The case is cool, though- solid wood with sturdy handle. You could easily reuse it once it's been sanitized. I used to play dolls in it when I was a kid and some of my old toys were in it when I dragged it out of storage a few months ago. I can throw those in too if you want.

I would like to get at least $500 for the chair. The case is free if you buy the chair. I can deliver both if you live close or arrange to have you pick it up (in the Heights).

Thanks!
