marmer
On the south side of US90A (Main St./Holmes Rd.) just past Beltway 8, there's an empty field with white brick piers defining a former driveway. Just a little farther down the road is an abandoned parking lot; overgrown, but with light poles remaining. What used to be here? I've read the posts about the former Domain Privee, but this seems to be farther west on US90A than that seems to be. Thanks, Marty
TexasFreeway.com
The gates were to a house. The house was vacant for many years as was falling into serious disrepair. The parking lot surrounded a small shopping mall. An oriental investor built the mall when Beltway 8 was in the planning stages. An original routing for BW8 being the eastern border of the mall. HCTRA plans shifted BW8 to its current location, and there wen the frontage. Also the mall was built way ahead of its time. The timeline for BW8 was pushed back and then you had a mall with no appeal for shop owners. It was nice until the windows were broken out and scavengers stripped the mall of anything worth reselling for scrap. A few years ago the rest was finally torn down...An investment gone bad.

lunchbox
I remember going there once as kid. I got mad 'cuz my folks wouldn't buy me a set of "Ninja" stars. Other than that, I remember rugs and furniture.
marmer
Thanks! That would explain why it looks different on Google Earth. Both the mall and the house are still there.Marty
