Modernceo
One of my employees who lives in an apt cant take care of his red heeler puppy due to lack of room. Hes trying to find someone to adopt it, and im considering it. Ive never had a heeler before, so im wondering, when they grow out of the puppy stage, what are they like ? Can I expect it to be a mature dog that wont dig holes under my fence, rip up my plants, etc ? Will it scratch my french doors to come in, or for attention, etc ? If you have experience with one, please share. My last few dogs were - DAchsund (loved him, but for the love of god could never house train him!) and a old english sheep dog. This will be an outdoor dog completely, fyi.
Subdude
What is a "heeler"? That is one cute pup! Btw, dogbreedinfo.com is a great place to start. Edited April 8, 2006 by Subdude
jm1fd
Welp...they're herding dogs, so they have a lot of energy, and a lot of stamina, but they also should be extremely trainable. If you're going to be able to spend a lot of time exercising and "working" him, then go for it. If not, then move on.
