Houston City Street Railway Company

Recommended Posts

The Houston City Street Railway Company was founded in 1870.  I believe it was the city transit company in Houston.

Here's a few photos I found of the old rail cars.

Edit; in 1886:
Houston City Street Railway Co., Office 90 Travis bt Prairie, Texas ave.

The rail car and mule transit depot.

The Fannin, Travis & Main Street car was number 37.

Cars numbered 30 and 6 in front of the Rice Hotel. Looks like the official railroad company abbreviation was "H.C. ST. RY. Co." or "HC ST RY Co".
