South Texas National Bank At 215 Main St.

One well known example was the South Texas National Bank on Main. This was a Greek revival structure that was torn down in about 1982 to make way for a development that never happened. The site was used for parking for many years, but I think there may be something there now.

Used to be a bank building with columns that looked sort of like the Islamic center only smaller and some period buildings.  I have seen a number of pictures of it, I will post them when I have time.

Are you thinking of the South Texas National Bank in the 200 block of Main?

Yep.  Wasn't there one or two more buildings between this and the Franklin Lofts building?

So you're telling me this was in place of what is now a parking garage?

Keep in mind it was demolished in 1983, a time when no one may have wanted an old building in that area. I haven't seen any details on condition, but the owners would have kept it if they could have made money renting it out.
