wilcal
This is the nearly 1 acre parcel along the Harrisburg Trail. Trees in the lot were started to be cleared with some machinery on site. I ride my bike along the trail to work most days, so I think they started yesterday This is the design from the final plat which was recorded in Sept of last year: The reserve in the SE corner is for drainage/open space. I'm hoping that they embrace the trail with their design even though they have a few front-loaders. Lot #19 with the hitch in order to have trail frontage is hopefully a good sign, but only 5 homes will have frontage along the trail. The lots along Sherman are all about 1,460 sq ft, and the internal lots vary between 1,600 and 2,800. I'll snap a few pics on my ride home today.
2ndwardOG
Seen this as well as I ride the trail often. Just hope the townhomes they build are better quality than the crap there putting up off canal street.

wilcal
Honestly need some new trees in that naked section STAT. I wonder what entity is best for something like this. It is maintained by CoH Parks but maybe somebody like the East End Management District is interested in helping. I feel like I/we could raise the funds to plat some local trees here.

This location might interest Trees For Houston, if there's funding, volunteers, and support from the stakeholder: https://www.treesforhouston.org Much of its recent work is at schools, but occasionally it does trail or park spaces.
samagon
it may be worth while to wait for the project to complete before getting trees planted though. just in case the contractors don't damage newly planted trees. 2

wilcal
Huh, the fencing is interesting. I guess it is necessary to separate the construction from the trail.
HoustonMidtown
I think it's because the retention pond goes right up to the trail in that area - the fence appears to only be in that one area (so far) Edited October 4, 2023 by HoustonMidtown
HoustonMidtown
The retention pond may be a bit too close to the path - the fence is already falling in !

Tone2002
I still don’t see how how that plot is going to hold 21 townhomes but I will soon enough.

HoustonMidtown
Enlarging the retention pond. Water was actually flowing away from the retention pond into the road on the opposite side of the development

wilcal
Took this day before yesterday. This is getting very dangerous and out of control with the erosion and I submitted a 311 ticket for OCE to come out and inspect. I'm really worried about someone falling in or it collapsing.
EastwoodEnvoy
Moving along. Retention pond is now reinforced with concrete. That wooden privacy fence is extremely close to the trail, just inches away.
