The one-time home of Houston City Club in the Greenway Plaza area has been transformed into Houston’s first diamond-level Life Time fitness facility thanks to a $34 million investment by the company.

Life Time Greenway, as the new facility is known, opened to “founding” members on Oct. 25, with all members being admitted on Oct. 28.

Minnesota-based Life Time purchased the building at 1 City Club Drive in 2017, following the closure of Houston City Club. Since then, it has drastically altered the space.

In addition to completely remodeling the interior of the building, Life Time has installed a 54,000-square-foot outdoor pool deck on the roof of the building, which features a 75-foot-long recreation pool and a separate 75-foot-long lap pool. The two pools are surrounded by lounge chairs and cabanas, which allow members to relax after a workout.

Life Time spokeswoman Natalie Bushaw said the rooftop pool deck is the company’s first in Houston and is one of the unique amenities available to Life Time Diamond Signature Club members.

Inside the 98,000-square-foot building, Life Time has installed more than 400 exercise machines of every variety.

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – CommonGrounds Workplace, a San Diego-based coworking company, has opened a 27,747-SF location in the Three Greenway Plaza building in Houston’s Inner Loop.

Parkway Property Investors’ Greenway Plaza is one of Houston’s largest employment centers with over 4.9 million SF of office space in 11 office buildings on a 52-acre campus near the Southwest Freeway, Buffalo Speedway and Richmond Avenue.

“Greenway Plaza is home to the perfect mix of corporations and growing start-ups in the Houston market,” said Jacob Bates, chief executive officer for CommonGrounds. “Our premium, flexible workplace is a great catalyst to create synergy between those businesses and the companies looking to be near them.”

CommonGrounds in-house creative team designed the workplace with Houston architect of record, Ziegler Cooper Architects. The general contractor was Arch-Con Corp., a Houston firm led by Michael Scheurich.

The CommonGrounds workplace, on the concourse level of Three Greenway, will serve up to 458 members. The workplace is configured into spacious private offices and team rooms, dedicated gathering places, and conversation areas. Six video-enabled conference rooms, wellness rooms, and an abundance of phone booths complete the space.
