Blue Dogs
KHOU-TV CBS 11 Sports Director Bob Allen has cancer & has taken an extended leave of absence as he battles the disease. The station released a press release regarding Allen's cancer fight: "Our friend & colleague, Bob Allen shares with us that he's been diagnosed with cancer. It's a form of T-Cell Lymphoma & Bob is very encouraged about his chances for recovery. When he talks about facing this challenge, Bob displays the same confidence & optimism Houston television viewers have come to expect from him over the past four decades as the city's leading sports anchor. "I'm ready for this----& I'll beat it,'" Bob says, adding that he appreciates the support & kind words coming his way. During his treatment, Bob will be taking an extended leave from his on-air work at KHOU so he can focus all his energy & attention on getting well. He'll keep us posted & we'll make sure all the people who know him, trust him, & care about him have the latest word on how he's doing. You can share your thoughts with Bob on KHOU.com & on our Twitter & Facebook pages, using the hashtag, #GETWELLBOB." Allen's been a fixture in Houston's sports scene since the 1970s when he joined KTRK-TV Ch. 13 (ABC) before leaving in 2013 & later going across the street to rival station, KHOU-TV CBS 11, where he's been ever since! http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2015/06/bob-allen-diagnosed-with-cancer.html Please send your prayers & thoughts to Bob!
