trymahjong
From Cohen's enewsletterThe Houston Parks and Recreation Department plans to soon purchase approximately 4,000 trees of various types to plant throughout Houston. District C will receive 310 of these trees to fulfill super neighborhood requests for esplanades in neighborhoods throughout the district. Council authorized the funding for this effort last week, which is derived from developer mitigation, settlement revenue from those who have violated the Tree Protection Ordinance, and private donations from groups such as Trees for Houston. The scope of the project will include removal of the six oak tree stumps, supply, delivery, and installation of six 14" - 16" live oak trees, a two-year warranty for each tree, and the installation of an irrigation system and sub-drainage to water the trees. trymahjong
It's the canopy that no one really talks about. Trees are cut down and the public loses the canopy of shade. Replacement trees are a good solution of course but sometimes you don't get the same amount of shade. It's the canopy that no one really talks about.
