Pleak
So how tall is 250,000 sq. feet?
swtsig
assuming 25k sf floor plates you're talking 10 floors.
Pleak
That's a decent height for so far out.
LTAWACS
moo... it's not much but it's better than nothing.
Pleak
It's almost to Katy - what did you expect - 50 stories? I'm just happy it's not one of those 6-story square atrium buildings that popped up all over town in the late 1970's/80's - like the bunch along the South Loop. asubrt
That's an interesting location... as of now there's nothing on any of the corners at that intersection. I would have expected it to be on the north side though; last time I was around there they were clearing land north of I-10, especially a giant lot on the NW corner. So I guess there will be more development in addition to this building around there soon.
WestGrayGuy
I work out here in Park Ten area. This part of I-10 is sparse but I am sure it will be gobbled up by some oil and gas service company. I welcome the construction.
jt16
http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2013/05/energy-corridor-area-to-get-campus-style-office-development/?cmpid=hpfsln "Stream, which will provide office development, leasing and management services, said a 130,000 square-foot office tenant has been secured, but it would not disclose the name of the company." The Energy Corridor continues to boom. Which will be awkward when we shut down Katy and all of those new downtown dwellars are then forced to reverse commute to the EC. livincinco
Is this different than the office construction that's getting built on the land that Second Baptist owns?
asubrt
Here's the original thread... http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/26296-office-building-planned-for-west-houston-i-10-greenhouse/?hl=greenhouse I remember seeing a sign/picture on the location a year or two ago for 9-10 story building, so I guess this is a bit of a downgrade. Still, incorporating retail will make the mixed-use crowd happy.

Still, incorporating retail will make the mixed-use crowd happy. Not really. This is only "mixed-use" in that a single site contains both retail and office space. I doubt very many people who advocate for mixed-use development would be very happy with just throwing down some strip malls next to office buildings.
