I got a message from metro about detours this weekend. Since I normally don't take the bus, I generally blew them off. But whatever reason I decided to take a peek and was stunned by ALL of the detours for the variety of events this coming week.

For those that don't get it normally, here's a complete list that is like 5 times longer than it usually is and for that reason, I decided not to include the permanent route changes:

Dynamo Home Game

On Friday, April 29, 2011, from 3:30 p.m. until 11 p.m., METRO will detour bus service to avoid potential delays due to the Houston Dynamo Home Game. Customers traveling in and around the area may expect minor delays for the duration of the event. For additional information, visit RideMETRO.org or call 713-635-4000.

Houston International Festival

From Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m. until Monday, May 2, at 3 a.m. and from Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. until Monday, May 9, 2011, at 3 a.m., METRO will detour bus service to avoid potential delays due to the Houston International Festival. On Sunday, May 1, 2011 there will be a Run / Walk. Street closure will be from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The following detour will be in affect:

March for Babies 2011

On Sunday, May 1, 2011, there will be a March for Babies. Street closures will begin at 4:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The following routes will be affected:

The Smith St. Bridge between Franklin and Preston is scheduled to be closed beginning Wednesday, April 27, 2011. This closure is scheduled to last approximately 90 days. During this closure, please utilize the following detour.

20 Long Point E/B - Use C.B.D. ramp to left Preston, right Smith to regular route.

85 Antoine S/B - (Via Freeway Trips) Use C.B.D. ramp to left Preston, right Smith to regular route.

85 Antoine S/B - (Via Washington Trips) Via Washington, veer right Preston, right Smith to regular route.

131 Memorial E/B - Use C.B.D. ramp to left Preston, right Smith to regular route.

308 Northwest Shuttle S/B - Use C.B.D. ramp, left Franklin, right Milam to regular route.

236 MAXEY RD. P&R

Due to construction delays on I-10 East, please utilize the following detour.

236 Maxey Rd. E/B - Via I-10 East, Exit US Hwy 90 East (775B), Exit Wallisville / Maxey Rd., right Wallisville, right Maxey Rd., left into Maxey Rd. P&R to regular route.

HARWIN DETOUR

81, 132 and 163: Due to construction on Harwin, these routes should utilize the following detour to access the Hillcroft Transit Center (T.C.).

The northbound connector ramp to SH-225 East from Loop 610 is scheduled to be closed beginning at midnight Friday April 8, 2011. It is scheduled to remain closed until Sunday May 1, 2011. During this closure, please utilize to following route.

245 Pasadena (In service from Hiram Clarke B.O.F.) - Via Loop 610, Exit SH-225 Westbound, U-Turn at Broadway to SH 225 Eastbound to regular route.

88 HOBBY AIRPORT

Sabo Rd. between Kingspoint Dr. and Fuqua is scheduled to be closed to southbound traffic beginning April 5, 2011. During this closure, please utilize the following detour.

88 Hobby Airport S/B – Via Kingspoint, left Seaford to Beamer to regular route.

CONGRESS ST. CLOSURE

Congress St. between Louisiana and Smith is scheduled for closure beginning Tuesday, November 9, 2010 and will continue to be closed until July 2011. During this closure, please utilize the following detours.
