Bellaire’s Evelyn’s Park will host the second annual Local Music Festival, a two-day event featuring Houston-based bands and musicians, from Oct. 11-12.

The festival will begin in front of Betsy’s Cafe on Oct. 11 from 5:30-10 p.m. and pick back up on the Evelyn’s Park Great Lawn on Oct. 12 from 12-10 p.m.

Live acts for the event include performances from Bayou City Swing, The Over-Commitments, Vital Signs, Acoustic Trails Band and Mathias, with over 100 musicians scheduled to play in total.

General admission to the festival is free, while VIP tickets can be purchased for $100 and will provide access to drink and food tickets and the chance to mingle with the musicians on Oct. 12.

Evelyn’s Park Conservancy has announced a new interim park administrator.

The group’s board of directors has appointed Terry Leavitt-Chavez as the interim park administrator for Evelyn’s Park Conservancy, according to a July 14 release.

“With the new challenges for Evelyn’s Park Conservancy presented by the pandemic and by planning for a major Phase 2 Development project, the Board is excited to engage an Administrator familiar with all aspects of Park operations and who will partner with us to creatively craft solutions and opportunities,” said conservancy president Jerry Wische.

Leavitt-Chavez fills a position left open by Patricia King-Ritter who resigned as park administrator effective June 30.
