editor Posted July 2, 2009 Share Posted July 2, 2009 METRO and an independent consultant have completed an investigation into the causes behind a June 16, 2009 METRORail derailment.The incident happened at 12:27 a.m. during a training run at Braeswood and Greenbriar. Two trainees and a rail-line supervisor were the only individuals on board. There were no injuries.The results of the investigation determined that excessive speed through the curve at that location caused the two-car train to derail. The speed in the area is posted at 15 mph. The train was traveling at 22 mph. sevfiv Posted July 2, 2009 Share Posted July 2, 2009 So that's what has been going on - for the last couple weeks the trains have been going through the Greenbriar/Braeswood area at a snail's pace causing bad backups since the space between the safety arms and the Fannin intersection on Braeswood (westbound) is minimal..
