Porchman
From ABC News: Houston: The U.S. BoomtownThey even interviwed Martha Turner! She failed to mention that sales are actually droppping off, likely due to the fact that Houston is exposed to the credit crunch just as much as the rest of the U.S.I was interested in the statistic that ONLY 48% of Houston's economy is energy driven versus 70% in the 80's. RedScare
They mentioned boomtown AND the 80s in the same article! Oil has dropped 15 bucks in 3 days. It's already started. We're doomed.
KimberlySayWhat
Don't you just love the bashing that comes with every single article printed about Houston?! I'm referring to the comments at the bottom. Edited July 18, 2008 by KimberlySayWhat
cnote
Don't you just love the bashing that comes with every single article printed about Houston?! I'm referring to the comments at the bottom.Man, a lot of hate being directed at Houston in those comments...maybe if they moved here and got a good high paying job they would change their tune. And I guarantee you all those people probably filled up their cars with gas this week, and turned their A/C down to 75.Red:Oil is finally dropping on waning demand, people are actually driving and using less!!! Any middle eastern posturing or tropical activity could send it right back up....
MidtownCoog
What they forget is Houston is working to find them oil.We were finding them oil when it was trading at $15bbl, and we are still finding them oil today.

GovernorAggie
Is it perfect? No. Can we do some things differently? Maybe. Regardless, there's no other city or state that I would rather be in than Houston, Texas!
