Urbannizer
I think its just a way to get people listening. Is the change 6am or pm? I thought it was pm? If its am it probably will be a Sam Malone Morning Show. At this point I don't think its a format change (though I wish it was to Hip Hop). They even have the puppy Cat Dolls coming on in the evening so that can't fool nobody saying they are changing formats. 6am. If anyone wants to save Hot95.7, please click the link and sign the petition. http://twitter.com/hot957 I would only sign that if I knew it was changing to spanish (they just took Party 93.3). If its changing to hip hop I want it to. Houston already has a lot of mix stations.
houstonmacbro
I'm not sure what I am saving it from. I like the current format (do we really need a new hip hop OR a new Latino station?). But I understand their format competes with 104.1 and another station further up the dial.

Radio Stations are like tracks of land or storefronts. They are going to reconfigure to draw the largest audicence in the demographic that they want. If the burger joint isn't drawing customers, they'll shut it down and turn it into a Mexican resturant. It's all about the benjamins baby. The music is just a vehicle to get you to hear the commericals. Just move to Satallite Radio like I did. 170 commerical-free channels with music choices in each and every stripe! At only $12/month it's a steal! I havn't listend to FM since.... http://www.xmradio.com/onxm/index.xmc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_XM_Sa..._Radio_channels

I tried it, my cousin has it in his car and just found out a month ago that 95.7 is no longer the Wave. We went somewhere one day and switched cars into a car without XM and he was surprised at how local radio changed. I don't understand why you would pay for a service that secludes you from whats going on locally. The Hip Hop station he was listening to wasn't even playing the latest national hits, and they sure weren't play any local or regional hits.I think I figured it out. Hot 95.7 is changing to AMP 95.7. They are advertising AMP 97.1 in LA at the top of the page. Why would they do that unless they planned to change to that format. http://www.ampradio.comPretty much the same format just a new name. The Hot name is more for Hip Hop stations.

What bothers me is all the damn commericals and the lack of diversity. I can't believe a city this size doesn't have one smooth jazz/classic jazz station. $12/a month is a bargain. Now if it was $100/month then THAT would be different.

Like I said, get an iPod, subscribe to podcasts of your choice (most are still relatively commercial free), and/or listen to streaming 'Net radio. SecondTour
I don't understand why you would pay for a service that secludes you from whats going on locally.I feel the same way about the thought of listening to canned Clear Channel packages that are cloned around the country and used as a vehicles to deliver commercials - complete with DJs & hosts that often times aren't even in the cities they "broadcast" from. There are a hell of a lot more than 40 classic rock songs from the 60s, 70s, & 80s - yet CC has been looping that same playlist for decades. Sad.And what exactly am I being secluded from? XM has a channel dedicated to Houston traffic & weather, numerous talk shows, sport-specific channels - MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, college sports, golf - countless music channels with information on every upcoming concert tour & album release, and every Astros game - including pre & post game shows. The only local things I'm missing are the local commercials - and truthfully, "missing" is a strong word. foxmulder
Yup, and I might add, very clever and kinda silly.Predictable....I turned on the webplayer and non stop commercials. Get XM who cares about $12 a month, Some of you'll spend more than that on beer. When 95.7 first came online "Finger Eleven Paralyzer" was on every hour and a half! (no joke) there is NO LOSS HERE. I have 3 cds and 2 mp3s can i start my own radio station?! Once i learned everyone plays commercials at the same time i picked up my Roady. The morning shows are lame, i don't care what madonna is doing, nor do i give a rats ass about Tom Cruise. I can't believe people actually listen to "morning shows" 97.9 has the worst one. "HEY LET'S SING THE "ABC" SONG!!" *shrugs*
