I'm sorry for being off-topic from the subject of the thread with this but I feel it needs to be said:
Stop it. Seriously. Both of you. If you want to fight, do it elsewhere. This bickering between you two is getting old and getting annoying. It's getting in the way of everyone else's discussions on the actual topics, and seriously needs to stop.So please, I ask you as a friend: knock it the heck off.

Thanks for continuing to update. Glad we have you at that angle. There's almost no visible change from my perspective, so I haven't bothered with any update photos.

Here's a quick shot of the painting of the garage. It looks like it's all going to be that dark grey color.

Good news: I just drove by and they appear to be painting the garage a blue-grey color that matches well with the glass. It certainly looks a LOT better than the concrete. Didn't have time to get my phone out and get a picture.

There is no hype. It's just the only thing happening there right now. It gives us something to watch while we wait. It's going to look ridiculous sandwiched in there like that, though.

Pollers in subsude's thread don't seem to think so, only by a few votes of course
That's because of the rendering. Having a rendering out makes something far more real, and until a rendering comes out for Chevron, there will always be those who are skeptical that it will happen.

No, the builders cut corners. The only lights are the signs that light up white at night.
I really doubt that would be the builders cutting corners. No builder would cut corners to the point that a very visible planned part of a building would simply not be delivered. I suspect those lights were never really a serious part of the plan to begin with.

I saw the sign for this went up a few days ago. My anti-virus software gave me a "dangerous page" warning for it, which may dissuade any potential future tenants I imagine.

This is one of my favorite projects right now. Along with Astoria. But the real reason I wanted to comment is this photo. Westheimer Road with not a single car in the shot! Impressive!
I stood there for a while to get them so there were no cars. They were taken a few minutes apart, and in both there is a car or two literally half a second from entering the frame.

Isn't the Titan and Astoria the same project? I thought they just changed the name is all..
Nope. Same developer, same land, different project. The Astoria actually started out as a rectangular building being pushed for the BLVD Place land that Ed Wulfe ended up selling to Apache.

Just got an email from Covill advertising the space. Relevant info from email:
"Occupancy Spring 2014- Mixed-Use Development in Heart of Uptown District
- Frost Bank Regional Headquarters
- Whole Foods Market
- Upscale Retailers and Restaurants
- Floor-to-Ceiling Glass
BLVD Place 2, Level 3: 12,520 SF
BLVD Place 2, Level 4: 12,520 SF
BLVD Place 2, Level 5: 12,520 SF
BLVD Place 2, Level 6: 12,520 SF"
Were we already aware that it was going to be a Frost Bank regional HQ? I don't remember ever seeing that before.
It also included a link to some detailed floor plans for the office portion of the site:

The only thing I'm not liking about this tower is that it will almost completely block the view of BG Group place for people driving in on 59 and I-10 on the east side of town, which is one of the best angles to see that tower.
-
I think I'll be able to see this one from my roof. Is it still going to be 40 stories? That's much taller than any residential building in the area, right?
Oh yeah. It's going to eclipse any other nearby residential by a mile.
-
oh. HAHA- now I feel silly. Thanks
Well, seeing as Chron seems to be using the same picture and calling it a rendering for this tower, I don't think anyone can blame you.

Good project
Looks like the tower only takes up a portion of the lot. maybe 1/2 to 1/4 with the rest being parking garage.
The first one is a photograph of SkyHouse Midtown in Atlanta, and I believe the second in a rendering for the same structure. The firm building this one say they haven't released a rendering for it yet, although it will probably be very similar to this one.

Is this taking the space that that dinosaur-themed park was supposed to occupy?

IT'S YOU! THE SWAMPLOT SOURCE!
'bout time you showed up here.
Now we have all of the angles covered. Unless someone in the Cosmopolitan, the Four Leaf Towers, or Post Oak Central wants to show up...- 1

"PLENTY"? Yeah, for every "plenty" I could name 2-3 terrible or mediocre at best that has gone up in the past 15 years. Let's face it, the standard for quality architecture in Houston has dropped dramatically and doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon. There ARE 1-2 designs coming that I think all of us are excited about, but whether it's admitted to or not, too many of us have been let down too many times since the start of this site.
With regard to chronic pissy-ness at this site....I don't dispute that.
We've had hideous things go up for decades, as well as quite a few great things go http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MzXlQElMCKw/TY1toOwJZII/AAAAAAAAARg/-74SQyV64jw/s1600/250320111678.jpg'>up very recently. I wouldn't say that current construction is necessarily worse than previous.

But on the other hand, you also have to remember the many projects in Houston that initially had multiple phases which were later canceled. It's very common. Let's hope not with this project because that building really doesn't look so great all by itself.
They built this leaving a good chunk of land open specifically for future development. While it may not be like the original plan, they won't just leave clear ground on a prime spot on Post Oak unused for very long. Postponed is always a possibility, but I sincerely doubt they will cancel future plans for the site.
It's definitely underwhelming but an improvement over wha used to be there at least. Wasn't the lot a strip center before this?
This is what used to be there:
And this is what happened to it:

Remember guys, this is just phase one that's been built. This is the old rendering of the completed site:
I'd recommend reserving your final opinions on this one until the rest of the site is built up. I am certain that with the rest of it filled it, that this will fit much better than it does now, and your opinions will all be more positive.- 1

In the lower left is that more crane bases or are those sections that they'll use later to make the current crane taller?
Sections to make this one taller. I didn't see any indications of a second crane base when I walked by a few days ago.

It's crane day!
Full site:
Actually (as Skyline View's picture shows) they started the crane yesterday. They got up to the cab before night and have been spending the morning installing the arm.
Forgive my ignorance but have we confirmed if there are two or one residential towers currently being constructed because it looks there's two in the right hand corner.
Currently it's only 1 confirmed that's going up. The other places that look like construction sites are simply being used during the construction to park workers' cars and construction equipment and store a huge pile of dirt.
