Houstonian4Life replied to citykid09's topic in Going Up!
I noticed a couple commercial trucks were parked in the middle of the East River development yesterday. In Section 1 where the warehouse is , workers were moving equipement around, possibly taking soil samples?- 2,049 replies

Texaco Building (now The Star) At 1111 Rusk Street
Houstonian4Life replied to editor's topic in Downtown
From Houston BizJournal: Update: The developer is about three months into the design process on the second, taller, tower — a phase two of the project that can be seen in the rendering on the opposite side of the building. Provident does not have an official height yet, however, Platt says the tower will be at least 20 stories above the nine-story garage. -

How ridiculous. I remember when they wanted to be open for the Final Four. Whoever is overseeing this project is doing a crappy job. -

It looks like they are a putting a sign up for Phoenecia...but I still haven't heard anything on when it will actually open -
I was driving past the Shops at Houston and noticed that where Monsoon used to be on the corner of san jacinto and lamar st. there is a sign that says Texas Sports Bar & Grill coming soon. Its nice to see that empty space finally be put back to use again, there is always lots of people walking around there during the day.

Midtown Restaurant And Bar Scene - More Coming
Houstonian4Life replied to WestGrayGuy's topic in Midtown
The land across from Camden Travis is probably what you are referring to. I talked to one of the managers that works at Camden Travis and they are supposed to break ground in the fourth quarter. I have been told that it will be retail on the first floor and apartments on the next three floors. -

Is Phoenecia still on track to open on May 15th? -
I highly doubt the park gets developed across from camden Travis. They want to build apartments there with retail on the ground floor. Camden Travis is almost fully leased and they expect to break ground in the fourth quarter.

Seems like this will happen relatively quickly. There is a lot of momentum for this project. It would be great if we could get another residential tower or two in the next few years.

George R. Brown Convention Center Hotel: East Of Highway 59
Houstonian4Life replied to lockmat's topic in Downtown
This will be great for the area. Downtown sorely needs more hotels plus this is another step in the right direction for east downtown. -
3009 Post Oak: Office Building At 3009 Post Oak Blvd.
Houstonian4Life replied to swtsig's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
It boggles my mind trying to figure out why in the world they wouldn't try to put something like this in midtown. There is way too many empty lots in and around midtown to not be able to find a suitable area for this to go up. It's time midtown gets more dense by adding midrise structures for residential/office use.
