Just drove up Shepherd today to avoid an accident on 45 and noticed a huge construction project in the median. Anybody know what's going on? Lots of digging and tearing up the dirt, but I did notice 3 large rebar frames big enough to possibly support a roadway overhead. Is it going to be some kind of HOV connector to 45 or something? Couldn't find any info on the transtar construction page either.

Has the highrise been built yet?

You can't remodel your way out of 8-ft ceilings.
Only by digging down!

The first house is overpriced by at least $200,000, maybe 250.
Good lord. $311/sq ft? That's insane. That's $100/sq ft over going rate.
In fairness though, it's ~3 blocks from Torchys :-)

We used Charlie Roofing for a small repair job. Communication was a bit lacking at times, but the work was good and the price was right.

100 pages on this thread, and nobody is any closer to convincing the other side that they're right. Or wrong. Or whatever. I'm confused. Just as confused as 2979 posts ago. What were we talking about again?
Hey look, a Wally-world!

I was just there. That is how I know how many people defriended it.

Here it is. Note the recent postings. One of them is for the new RUDH page with 200 likes. That's HUGE!
Using Facebook to guage public interest is like using Wikipedia for research.

Ah, the Kroger on 20th. The "Zombie" Kroger. A place you can go and actually witness a check being written for groceries. All kidding aside, I hope this one survives. It will be a sad day for the old(er) folks that go there if it closes.
They just finished a number of upgrades, so I'm guessing it's sticking around for a while. They actually improved the produce section quite a bit, reorganized the store, changed the front entrance, and slapped a fresh coat of paint on it. It's not my primary store although it's the closest one to me, but it is definitely improved.

Price dropped to $1,490,000. Given the market appreciation in the Heights, this house is kind of a good deal now.
At $449 / sq ft, I'd say it's still on the pricier side.

So... Chicken and Dougnuts place going in next to Liberty Kitchen.... any timeline on that one?
Not soon enough.

There's a huge chunk of recently cleared land at N main and 610. Any idea what's going in there?

Can anyone recommend a good Arborist? One of our trees seems to have some kind of sooty mold growing on it, and we'd like to get a professional opinion
Any names/numbers of folks you've had good experiences with would be appreciated. Thanks

Anyone forcing you to view it?
Just my own obsessions

For the love of god, can we please lock this thread down on October 27th?

I searched Wal-mart's site and they are still saying 2012 opening. They had 24Sep photo updates, it looks like it is 1-2 months away, so that narrows it down. I just saw these from the leasing agent .... http://ucrrealty.com..._IH-10&Yale.pdf ... nice aerials, maps. Bass St. will be an entrance from I-10 feeder to the dismay of all Bridge of Death fans and it looks like they added a RR crossing over Bonner Street for trucks.
EDIT: Here's a slightly different aerial with a better depiction of Bonner St. http://ucrrealty.com...ights Blvd).pdf
Wow. It is laughable that they advertise you can get from the site to the SW Freeway or anywhere downtown in "5 minutes" (slide 3 on either link). The last time I even came close to that kind of speed/distance was a few hours before Ike hit, when there were ZERO cars on the road. Even going up Yale to 610 would be a challenge, unless there were no cars in front of you and you hit every green light (all 10 of them in the 3 mile stretch). And believe me, they are not timed so you can make every one (Koehler, I-10 East, 1-10 West, 6th, 11th, 14th, 19th, 20th, 22nd, 610 East)

For the one on 11th, it's right by the hike/bike trail right? If that's the one you're thinking of, I'm pretty sure they said it would be (medical?) offices.
Not sure about the one up by *bucks. It sure is an awful green though. Maybe some kind of carwash place? 2 bays seems pretty small for a jiffy-lube type shop

If we're lucky they'll fix some of the aging sidewalks and curbs. Seems strange to start that work right as school starts though

Residents should go to the 11th street station and fill out a police report any time there is any kind of property crime, even just a failed attempt. Police do monitor statistics and will adjust patrols based on trends.
I once stood outside that station (yes, during business hours) for a solid half hour, banging on the door/windows. I called the main station downtown, and they didn't even have a current phone number for the substation. The number on the door didn't work. There were 9 cop cars parked outside.

Ah... so... they arent designed to be taken whilst walking about? More for just transporting your beer to your home?
I suppose anything is possible, but yes - more for transportation.
-
I don't understand your math. The spaces are available for kwik-e (Woods) mart. I guess someone looking for a pack of smokes better head down to the Conoco because it was tough already trying not to door-ding a mini Cooper having a latte to-go.
Maybe they should do like they do in Arizona and have drive through liquor (or beer) stores.
Big project along North Shepherd between Little York and 45?

This would be phenomenal. Thanks everyone for the quick info & good discussion!
