  1. I have a book on the proposed building from the 80's. It would have been really nice to see that built. I loved the way it was lit up, very Miami Vice.
  2. One of them needs to invest in downtown instead of moving out to the burbs.
  3. A good cheap place that does great work are the multiple Vietnamese salons that dot midtown.
  4. I seriously doubt UST has an open admissions policy. sttombiz, you're not painting UST in a very good picture. Let me guess you're a frosh?
  5. You don't have to be an architect to compete in the Sand Castle competition. Hardly a qualifier. Maybe he calls himself an architect in person, that's why the confusion.
  6. Engineers are the nuts and bolts, but the architect is the soul.
  7. We got robbed! But still a one point loss to the mighty Maimi Hurrcanes is pretty good. The Coogs are back in action at home this Saturday against the University of Louisiana Lafayette. We should win this one easily, another 40+ game for the Coogs. Weather will be beautiful so you guys come out and check out the best team in Houston!
  8. Let's put it this way. The architect is like a fashion designer and the civil engineer is like a seamstress.
  9. Exxon should build a new head quarters downtown. A signature building. Downtown needs a new skyscraper.
  10. I'll let you guys in on a little secret. P. Johnson played a joke on Houston, when viewed from the air, the Williams Tower with the plaza and waterwall form a very distinct phallic symbol. Burdette Keeland said this was done on purpose.
  11. That's the building I'm watching go up in front of Memorial Hermann, right? Its easily the tallest building in the med center and has a pretty cool "crown" on top of it. Impressive. Could have been a bit brasher but the physical size is impressive.
  12. When I was growing up my best friend lived at Parkwood. It did have a "project" feel to it. It was tiny and they had a family of 5 living there.
  13. Robertson is a great place to watch football, not a bad seat in the house.
  14. Awesome game, and the best part was the look on the OSU fans faces as they left the stadium. They really really thought that their Big 12 team was going to run over UH. But UH did the running over! Go Coogs, beat Miami!
  15. Hey just wanted to give a shout out that the Univeristy of Houston Cougars are 3-0 and are probably the best team in the city. They have a big big game at beautiful Robertson Stadium on campus with the 3-0 Oklahoma State Cowboys this Saturday at 8pm. Late start because of TV. So come out and support you local team. Come early and enjoy the tailgating scene, its very friendly and very well attended. Go Coogs!
  16. The original Cinema was in the lower level where its an arcade now, next to the food court and the parking garage. Originally the Galleria ended there. When they expanded the opened a second theater but its gone now, it was replaced by the bridge to Galleria IV (new wing). There was a McDonald across from it.
  17. Unfortunately, Houston wasn't on his side and he screwed Houston.
  18. As long as the semi original downtown location stays open, I'll be happy.
  19. Ford Field is by far the best football stadium out there. As for Cardinal Stadium, they decided to build it on cheap land out in the middle of nowhere so basically, the could build anything they wanted. What's great about MMP is that it had to look like part of downtown. I don't like the new Yankee stadium because it'll give Chicago and Boston an excuse to get rid of their old stadiums. Which would be a crime. The house that Ruth build is no more. Sad.
  20. Thanks for the link. The article makes it seem like UH didn't make the list. But I guess since UH is so close to Sam, they are competing for the same students so the article was vague about it.
  21. So I guess the UH main campus made the list?
  22. I'd try the Med Center area. They have lots of furnished apartments on a month to month for all the patients that come from out of town.
