EastEnd Susan replied to Parrothead's topic in Historic Houston
I remember the little devil guy too. I also remember it being where the record shop was. I think it was Hastings Records.- 36 replies

I miss Foleys. I tried to be open minded and gave Macys a chance but now I go to Penneys or Dillards. I am one of the many that dont give a crap about Macys.- 255 replies

I remember a Roy Rogers by Gulfgate Mall close to Woodridge.

I never noticed them doing anything. A temporary chain link fence was up for a few weeks and now its gone. Can't see that they had done anything.

Drove past the mansion yesterday and the chain link fence is gone. No orange mesh fence either. Makes one wonder what they are up to.

Niels Esperson Building, Partial Conversion To Multifamily
EastEnd Susan replied to MidtownCoog's topic in Downtown
I've always wondered what the top of the Esperson looked like up close. Great pics. Thanks for posting. -
I remember that place now. It was close to Dismuke, and Hackney.. around that area. They had the cloth awnings to park under. I remember you would walk up, place your order in the little enclosed area and you could either eat in your car or on one of those concrete tables under the awnings. Ooooh, wheel burger!! They had the best onion rings in town. Thanks for the memory.

My brother was in the boy scouts for about 3 months back in 1965. He said he got out because he liked fast cars and girls a lot more than camping and bisquick.

Yes, theres one there but I'm in League City right where it meets Friendswood. We have no Arbys. The only time I get Arbys is sometimes for lunch at work. I work off Dixie Farm Road and go to the Almeda Arbys.

Why do people build a perfectly good Home Depot and then relocate it a mile ot two up the road? We are up to our necks in Home Depots over here. How about just build an Arbys instead so I won't have to drive to Almeda Mall.

Cigarette Smoking Bans & Ordinances
EastEnd Susan replied to hokieone's topic in Texas Medical Center
No one in my building cares if the smokers smoke out in the smoking area or in front of the building. These people are our friends. But just wait.. Come Sept. 1st smoke Nazi will be out there with tape measure in hand. We really wish someone would drop a house on her. The boss made the mistake of making her saftey officer a few years ago because no one else wanted the job. Now she thinks shes SOMBODY!! -

Thanks musicman. Oh.. I did drink a beer this weekend with no side effects. Doc says it was a reaction to the alcohol and the bactrim. -
Cigarette Smoking Bans & Ordinances
EastEnd Susan replied to hokieone's topic in Texas Medical Center
I dont smoke but a few of my friends here at work do. The smoke Nazi just told them that they cant smoke out in the side yard which is the designated smoke area because it is not 25 feet from a door. The only people that use this door is the people that go out there to smoke. She says that what the houston ordinance says. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the ordinace? I think shes taking this a bit far. The boss man doesnt seem to care who smokes where. Its the smoke nazi that has the problem. Our company only has 14 people and of the 14 only 1 is a bad egg. She has nothing to do but find something to gripe about. No one likes her, no one talks to her. She has now earned the new name of Spider Pig. Help me find a way to shut her up! -
My calculation from the date it was built over the front door makes it 82. Remember Vert.. They are channel 39 reporters, not REAL reporters. I saw the same report. It was the first time I had seen those halls in 35 years. But when I last saw it it was two tone prison green, not gray. I must say I had forgotten all about the many pipes that ran overhead in the halls. I wish they would fix the old school up. The windows were replaced the year after I left because thats the year they got air conditioning and the old windows leaked way too much to hold in any cool air.
