  1. they had just redone the place maybe a year or two ago. all joking aside, once my friends and I built up the courage to actually venture in (rather than joke about the looks of the place as we walk by) it was a pretty chill dive. And they sold pearl in a can. Hopefully, new and improved makes it a bit more open, but keeps the pearl in a can on the menu.
  2. With Leon's Lounge having recently closed and now this, what a blow to that small area! Either there's something really wrong with that building, or someone really didn't want Woodrow's in the area. I'm sad for sure.
  3. you should netflix it. a great movie. maybe I'm dumb and blind, but I can't find anything on their site, and it isn't listed here either: http://www.waldorfastoria.com/future-openings/
  4. the 2 door 'sport' version looks pretty hot. regarding the PMOTY cars, Jo Collins picked a winner! one of my favorite cars of all time, and Liv Lindeland made an excellent choice as well.
  5. I think it would be cool to keep the dome and do what the renderings above demonstrate. one option I didn't see considered, but it fits Houston perfectly, demo and turn the dome area into a parking lot, you can get a return on your demo costs over about a million years, especially when you account for inflation.... also, if they make it with that permeable pavement it will be eco friendly too. (to be fair, I have heard the $2million dollar estimate as well on NPR, no idea where they got the number though).
  6. Looking at that PDF, I think having it go down Louisiana to Gray rather than Brazos would be much better, as it would go next to Randalls, making this thing more useful for every day usage, not just getting to and from bars/restaurants in the evenings. But unless it is a real trolley with tracks, then the route could be adjusted as needed.
  7. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7012629.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+houstonchronicle%2Ftopheadlines+%28chron.com+-+Top+Stories%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher A hot sendoff before the move to the new building? anyone have pictures?
  8. how can any one outside of houston hate the astros? I mean, we give wins away, and we stock their teams with great players (how many astros have been to and won world series on other teams?). people in houston shouldn't hate the astros, but the owner, as it isn't a players fault he sucks, and doesn't have any help from his team mates because they suck too.
  9. anyone drive by here lately and see what's going on? If anything?
  10. this is going to work out very well for pedicabs. there is also a ton of surface street parking in the warehouse district that can be used by soccer fans. plus they can park in a garage on the west side of downtown and hop the rail for an additional $2.50 to get to the stadium. the same will be true for baseball fans.
  11. it's nice to see this thing finally get over the hill and start rolling!
  12. I admit to not reading the entire thread, but did anyone mention the Boston Sea Party? Expensive all you can eat buffet, had lobster and crab legs, it was on Westheimer where Molina's Cantina is now (between Voss and Dunvale). Not sure when they closed, but it had to be mid 80s.
  13. they probably made the decision based on throwing half of the food away. very common to ride and see half the people (at least in the rows around me) say no to a meal. I honestly wish they just offered the salad and twix and not the cardboard sandwich.
  14. I don't see it as a problem, TSU playing football there fixes it (wishful thinking, I'm sure)
  15. http://www.chron.com...ro/6593131.html Just thought you'd like to know that bit of info! I'm a huge soccer fan, and before I knew that myself, I was on the fence too, but I just don't see how this is a bad deal for anyone.
  16. training them to squish humans is the easy part, it is when the human has a pet mouse that things get scary for the handler. I've heard that they now do a mandatory search for mice on all victims prior to their scheduled squish.
  17. Not to mention that the area is very residential now, and if allowed to, will only become more residential as time moves forward.
  18. Violent fans are not singular to Soccer. I've never been to philidelphia to watch a football game, or oakland, but then I don't really want to go. The former has a police station in the stadium for rowdy fans. I also remember back to the basketball brawl between fans and players. doesn't happen often. but then there have been some riots revolving around basketball. baseball, there seems to be at least 2 or 3 brawls a year in baseball. always the players, and the fans just cheer and drink more beer. I've been to plenty of games in different parts of the country, wearing astros gear and aside from some rabble rousing, it's always a good time. Anyway, violence in sports is reigned in with policing, just as with anything.
  19. http://www.fieldofsc...mo_stadium.html Go read through page 26 of this thread.
  20. I think this is something that a lot more people do than one would think.
  21. There is one good reason home depot should not move their headquarters to Houston. Imagine how many day laborers would be milling about their office building!
  22. had forgotten about that, good call.
