Museo Institute For The Medical Arts In The Museum District
asubrt replied to Urbannizer's topic in Going Up!
Agreed, there was no way this was ever happening (not at that height anyway). There hasn’t been a 50 story tower built in Houston in 35 years. All three recent Hines high rises downtown have been in the 46-49 range, not sure why that is seemingly the limit? I thought I read something about elevators being much more of a challenge above 50 floors, but not sure if that’s true or not. It pains me to be in the same boat as Monarch, but Austin sure doesn’t seem to have any trouble building them. I guess they are way behind when it comes to supply, and I know it’s not all about height, but it sure would be nice to get at least one 50+ story tower built in Houston in my lifetime.- 630 replies

Great to see the old Sears Auto Center finally coming down. I'm wondering how much longer the First Horizon Bank (the other building in that large parking lot) will remain open/standing. Once that closes and is demolished I think things will really start moving.

This one is moving fast, the first building looks to be pretty close to topping out already.

Bummer, was a good spot. But it was empty the last time I was there on a Saturday night, so not exactly surprising.

CityCentre: Mixed-Use Development At 800 Town And Country Blvd.

North Italia is opening a location in CityCentre Two in the old Tasting Room space (SE corner of Town And Country Blvd and Town And Country Way). Saw a variance request for a patio today while driving by. Apparently this was announced back in August but didn't see anything going back in this thread. https://whatnowhou.com/north-italia-plans-houston-expansion/- 960 replies

The Methodist cafeteria is excellent. Almost like a food hall with tons of different options, many which are healthy. By far the best I've ever seen at a hospital.

Grand Hyatt is my rather uneducated guess, with Fairmont a close second. Kempinski has a total of zero hotels in the US so I don't think that's very likely. I would be flabbergasted (but extremely happy!) if it was a Mandarin Oriental.

I think there are two projects going on simultaneously, and this was actually the garage from the neighboring one. It is now largely built out with wood framing, while the three 10 story towers from this project are just beginning to emerge, as shown in Kim Brown's photos above.

Managua resumes January 4. Edmonton was originally slated to return in April 2023, but has since been removed from all future schedules.

The structure flew up so quickly, but it really seems to have slowed to a crawl since topping out. Still no evidence of any cladding/facade, and there never seem to be more than a few workers on site at any given time.

Texas Leaguer Brewing Company At 13503 Pike Rd.
asubrt replied to Highrise Tower's topic in Points Southwest
I’ve been a couple of times, though it’s not exactly new, I think it opened in 2017. Beers are pretty decent, good variety of styles. Strong baseball theme throughout, which is fun. -
Yeah, this is a very strange thing to fret about. No one is going to a Porsche dealership to get drunk.

This is so disingenuous. There will be ZERO added traffic on Wroxton Court, and I really have a hard time believing that the traffic on Bissonnet will be significantly worse, especially considering there were apartments here before (as has been frequently noted in this thread). I don't know if it's a property value issue, or that they just don't want a high rise in their backyard because of privacy or views or whatever... but this is almost right in the center of Houston, there's going to be density whether they like it or not. I can see several high rises from my backyard (in a significantly less dense area of town), and you don't see me crying about it.

CityCentre: Mixed-Use Development At 800 Town And Country Blvd.
asubrt replied to Parrothead's topic in Going Up!
This is actually a different building that’s not technically in CityCentre (it’s on the other side of Queensbury). Town Center One is 10-ish floors and has Microsoft and some other offices, and there’s been a sign and rendering in the adjacent lot for years saying “Town Center Two coming summer 2020”. I assumed it was dead, but maybe not? Surprised yet another office building is moving forward in this market, with the one next to the McKinley restarting construction recently and CityCentre Seven supposedly starting soon (and CityCentre Six also in the pipeline).- 960 replies

A lot of those could theoretically fit, but I will literally go streaking on the field at Minute Maid Park during an Astros game if it was a Six Senses

That Google Maps photo is of 6810 S Fry Road in Katy, but it sounds like the development is at 6810 Fry Road in Cypress, just south of FM 529.

Walking Stick Brewing Company At 956 Judiway St.

The brewery itself is a cool spot, but the beers are pretty average imo
