  1. Didn't see a thread for Terminal A.

Once terminals C and D are completed, the airport will shift its focus to terminals A and B, he said.

“We’re in the planning stages of a complete remodel of Terminal A, and also we’re working with United Airlines on two more concourses for Terminal B, which will replace the last boarding gates [at the airport that were constructed in] the 1960s,” Simmons said.

It was built without jetways so the United Express flights can taxi quicker, and very few aircraft damages.  North Terminal C is looking good now it will have jetways for mainline aircrafts.  I hope they renovate Terminal B North, to crowded, people sitting on the floor and no restaurants like the new Terminal B south.

HAS in planning stages with United for 2 concourses to replace B North Banjos once Terminal C & D are done. An overhaul of Terminal A is also in planning stages.

Also, given the "within a year" timeframe, these local restaurants are probably slated for Terminal B & C.

The new restaurants will open within a year and include Greater Houston area eateries, such as The Breakfast Klub, Hubcap Grill and Mexican restaurant Hugo’s, Simmons said.

First thought: If one of the proposals is to open up the lobby to the street, can the Jones Hall renovation be tied into Jones Plaza renovation with Theater District Master Plan? Jones Plaza is also slated to begin work early in 2017

  4. Jones Hall, celebrating 50 years this week, will be renovated. Plans to be unveiled in early 2017

To that end, Friends of Jones Hall, the symphony, the performing arts society and the city have joined in a task force to create a master plan for the hall's improvement.

Suggested modifications, which could cost as much as $200 million, will be made public in early 2017, Postl said.

Among proposals being studied is a plan to install an adjustable stage tailored to the divergent acoustical needs of the orchestra and the often-amplified performances presented by Society for the Performing Arts.

While the issue of installing windows remains unresolved, Hanson was enthusiastic about the possibility.

"On concert nights," he said, "one can drive past or around Jones Hall without realizing there are several thousand people experiencing a live symphonic experience. … Imagine a front entrance that welcomes the community into the hall and does a better job of making it widely known to those walking or driving past that this is a living, breathing hall, not just an architectural icon."

  5. 288 Northbound TMC flyover ramp to Holcombe is going to have very interesting setup. IIRC, there's a gas station and Burger King in the way of all of this? How does this all help if there's a freight line that could stop traffic just west of all of this lol

^^^ @tigereye beautiful and amazing work details thus far my pal.  it just seems that there is a WHOLE LOT left to do between now and SUPER BOWL...... wow!

Thanks @monarch. There's still work to be done but I think they'll be wrapped up by Thanksgiving, maybe sooner. There was work being done yesterday while the place hosted multiple events with weekend crowds enjoying the good weather next door.

The ADLA work is down to installing the "Wings Over Water" (WOW?) sculpture, the Wharf, and landscaping. Exterior work is down to applying the final pieces. Most of the work left is with the interior spaces. The grand lobby & concourse have some work to be done but are fairly close to completion. But the restaurant spaces haven't started work yet so that would be the only concern IMO.

  7. More on the Rangers' Texas Live plans, including Rangers Republic, Live! Arena, and Arlington Backyard (lol)

Even though it's a placeholder rendering, this seems to indicate the Rangers may be teasing a partial EFTE portion on the retractable roof (i.e. US Bank Stadium). With homeplate at new site likely to face due NE, the covered portion of roof would shade field from the sun, while the partial EFTE side would allow natural light in without impacting outfielders.

    Still, suburban ballparks suck.

The chronicle article I read stated that the trading group was staying downtown and they were moving the supporting groups.

Either way this is horrible news. I don't understand, urban revitalization is at one of the highest points ever yet, so many of these large corporations are moving to the suburbs. Is this due to the fact that the people high up in the companies grew up during the era of suburban sprawl and don't see the appeal of urban areas like the new young folks see?

IIRC, the trading floors are at 1K Main.

If Shell is consolidating into spaces they own, I'd presume the trading floors move from 1K Main to 1 Shell Plaza.
