good news for you then, it is not a part of it, it is apart from it.
sorry, I always laugh when someone uses this word incorrectly, and I enjoy pointing it out. apart (from) has exactly the opposite meaning from a part (of).
Missed the space bar while I was typing ... my bad. 😏

Was hoping the block with the old Kim Hung Market would be apart of this development... i guess next to it and behind it will have to do.

Parts of this literally surround my building ... it's going to be crazy watching all of this get developed. 😮😍

King's Court, the sports bar and grill at 903 Hutchins closed. The space was listed for lease in March and recently unlisted.
https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/903-Hutchins-St-Houston-TX/22398541/Heard from a neighbor (who spoke to the owner) that King's Court is opening back up in a few weeks. The place has been closed for weeks so Tulum is definitely gone.. there's been activity the past several days so assuming that's for King's Court reopening.

Stopped by on my way home this evening... nice place. Very bright and clean (obviously clean since they literally just opened) ... looks like they will be adding a food service area inside at some point. The lights definitely brighten up that part of McKinney at night.

Wow ... live along this trail and bike it all of the time from EaDo down to the Hermann Park / Med Center area ... and i'm almost always alone. It always seems so safe I'll be stopping that for now.

Looks like some new drainage piping will be going in too. I hope they redo Bastrop St. too, between J-BarM BBQ and the Alliance lay down yard. 18 wheelers used to park here and they really tore it up.
That stretch of Bastrop has been in desperate need of work for years ... agree.

I never drive to east downtown so if anyone does, is the parking really so constrained we needed another parking lot?
I live a few blocks from here ... on weekends it can be very busy, especially at night and especially when there are soccer / baseball games. There are free street parking options a few blocks away on the other side of Emancipation, but Houston folk are too lazy to walk a few blocks.

There was an article in the Chronicle this past Thursday about the governor of Connecticut, Ned Lamont, slamming downtown Houston on a couple of radio stations in the nutmeg state.
On WTIC:
On WPLR:
While downtown Houston isn't perfect, Mr. Lamont forgets that he's from Hartford, which invented rolling up the sidewalks at 5pm.
Sadly, the best civilized retort came from Lina Hidalgo, who tried to tout downtown's "fabulous restaurants, historic buildings & massive murals" — all things that every other city can claim, including Brownsville.
The restaurants aren't open very much. Every city has historic buildings. And the murals are nice, but 91% of people file them under "who gives a shit." Hundreds of other cities have been using massive murals to disguise the urban blight of blank brick walls for the last half a century. Welcome, aboard, Houston!
Hopefully, this acerbic opinion from an importantish outsider will act as a little kick in the pants of local officials to get them to stop staring at their bellybuttons and understand that Houston needs to step it up.
While I obviously agree Downtown Houston has a long way to go, it is important to focus on how far Downtown has come over the past several years. Also, as someone who grew up in the Northeast (Northeast Pennsylvania), I wouldn't pay much mind to what the Governor of Connecticut thinks ..... while Connecticut is a nice state, the only thing they (the entire state) are known for is being a suburb of NYC. Unless you have friends/family there, there is literally no reason to visit.
Also, as a supporter of Lina Hidalgo, her response was unbelievably sad. I support her and Downtown but literally cringed when I read that.

I heard a rumor that Little Woodrow’s is moving to this space— Has anyone heard the same?
There is a sign out front confirming Little Woodrow's is moving there.

It's pretty amazing how just building an urban park can transform an entire neighborhood. I moved to Houston in 2002 when the Hilton was under construction. There was no reason to go to that part of Downtown unless you were going to the GRB. I always tell people you couldn't have paid me to walk into East Downtown at night (or even during the day) and now I live there.

They should extend it the entire length of downtown. Main street is such a pain to drive on Downtown anyway, let's try to spur some development along Main closer to Toyota Center and into South Downtown
Wouldn't be surprised if that happens in the future. The businesses along Main where it's happened are all for it which means other businesses along Main would like it. Combine that with the fact that drivers just don't use Main Street that much... it's not like they would be displacing a ton of vehicle traffic.

I'd definitely take density over height. Downtown Houston continues to improve but still has a long ways to go ... especially the southern part (which has improved in some areas over the past several years). My gym is the Downtown YMCA ... when working out you get a lovely view of an ugly, fenced in lot (Travis @ Pease) and from the parking garage you get an amazing view of Downtown's most iconic eyesore, the abandoned Days Inn.
That all being said, Discovery West is looking so good rising above Disco Green .... that along with Parkside are such great additions to that part of Downtown.

Moved to Houston in 2002 when I was 22 ... Montrose was definitely a different place ... was out to the bars / clubs / restaurants several times a week. Now that I'm 42 I just don't feel the need to "go to Montrose" as much anymore. I did it for so many years and have basically moved on. I still go out to the montrose bars with friends every once in a while, and we have a blast, just don't need to do it every week... other parts of the city, like Downtown, can be just as fun and sometimes more fun. I just don't need to "be around other gays" every time I go out.

Dang parking lot! *shakes fist in the air* 🤬 ... still looking beautiful, though! 😍

There's a dumpster now out front so the new owners must have started working on it.

Just asked the construction guy out there and he said it’s first going to be a parking lot for the World Cup then after that a Montessori
Hmmm ... odd. The World Cup isn't until 2026 and it will be held at NRG, not PNC.

It's tacky, but a good tacky. I love it.
I'm still trying determine if it's a good tacky or bad tacky ... lol ... it's different. If it's a successful business that helps my neighborhood I'll like it.

has anyone seen the new pedestrian touch screen that was installed at Westheimer and Post Oak Blvd on the north east corner (in front of Embassy Plaza (the old Ethan Allen building) 5002 Westheimer Rd
They look much like the large touchscreens in the Houston Galleria to find stores and more...pretty cool! Are there more that i didn't notice yet?
OH and in regards to the giant circle rings that have been missing since road construction i was told today by the Uptown Houston offices that they are having to completely re-engineer them since the roads widened! So they have been rebuilding them and hope to have them up sometime this year but they WILL be back! I miss my UFOs!!!!!!!
There's one Downtown on the corner outside of Biggio's across from the GRB.
