Has anyone here noticed the service quality at our Lowes has gone downhill...not sure if its just me or not. In the past I was always greeted and at least 3 people would ask if they could help. Now you cant find any help, the store is dirty and its just a real negative experience. Yesterday I was in line with about 100$ of building supplies, there was a super long line, and 4 employees off to the side (on break?) just having a great time playing grab ass with each other. I was so pissed I just left my stuff and went home. There was a great manager there and not sure where he went....damn its 8 am and now I have to drive to Lowes on 610 just to buy a damn window. (I refuse to go to home depot...that place is horrible). I would love to pay a little more for a nicer store...any suggestions?- 239 replies

Oh I have been to Donarakis..twice..thought the first time was a fluke. I heard one of the best quotes ever from the mgr there....he asked what I thought about the place and told him my margarita tasted like it had no tequila in it. His response was ...oh everyone says that here, its cause we use smooth tequila and you dont taste it...pffff whatever. They get freeway traffic, so ya if easily accesable (sp?) I guess anything could work.- 239 replies

well what I meant was, not sure people have enough expendable money for things like that...last time I went it ended up being like 60.00 for 2 people and most in my hood have more than 2 per household and dont get out to much because of that.- 239 replies

Demographics of the neighborhood wouldnt support such a venture....but it would be awesome to have something a little different in the hood.- 239 replies

I know what you mean about the Gulfgate HEB...instead of making it nice, they turned it into a Fiesta...if people want Fiesta, they will go there..they should be trying to improve the neighborhood, but I do love the 80`s dance music they play there. You must be the other cracker I saw...hahah...and are the demographics of the neighborhood changing or is it just me...kinda noticed it at the store last 6 months

It seems every year on the news they say there has never been a case of SOMEONE else putting anything in candy, it was the parents the few isolated incidents...but you always hear the rumors.- 42 replies

I go jogging along the bayou several times a week, always wonder about the concrete between the Spaghetti Whse and the bayou. On both sides there is alot of concrete with huge posts that look like they are there for boat tie offs? But they are huge and fairly high above the water. It doesnt look like there is available access across from the S.W. I had to go thru quite a bit of overgrown brush to get over there. It does look like it was/is used for something...anyone know???? Will post about the bums down there camping in another post

Cooks rink was the bomb. No a/c, just to 6ft tall fans that blew horizontally down the floor. There were also alot of metal poles for roof support, often used to as pivot point when going around corners. My parents went there as kids and said they had a lion that would stay inside at night for theft protection.

OK 2 doors per side, could this be a matress store like the one on West./Shep. The restroom area is really small, like it is intended for 2 or 3 employees. Many doors to get around the product, but no double doors for larger items. Product would have to large enough that there would not be theft out the side doors (like there is any theft on EastSide ha). I know it doesn`t make sense but I am going to guess a matress store- 239 replies

Speaking of a loooooong time ago, at some point my mom worked at Gulfgate Mall, and always told me about a tunnel system under the mall. It was designed so that trucks could pull in underground and unload into the stores `basements`. It was also a designated bomb/fallout shelter. Does anyone know if these tunnels are still there? During the construction I never saw excavation down very far.- 239 replies
