shots of my redo

it takes me too long to pick out one color much less three. I went to 2 more paint stores today and their historical palettes sucked. i updated the pic but the red still looks red instead of leaning towards an orange. -

tha orange is about the color of the stripes. luckily i just pickup my new glasses with photochromic lenses so i didn't go blind looking at that! -

i'm starting to think about painting the outside of my house. i'm still contemplating color palettes. it was built in the late 30's so i'm going for a palette from that era. i did find a blue that i liked however 3 nearby neighbors' homes are blue so i'm not headed in that direction. i did find this palette at sherwin williams that i liked. look at last example (house of silvergrey, buff trim, and chinese red accent) i have subsequently painted the stripes on the awnings and my front door the chinese red color, which i like. The majority of the house i hope will be the silvergray color which is a good neutral. i am open to anything at this point though. i do like many art deco era colors which tend to be neutral or more light pastels with bold accents. some neighbors came over a few days ago and said they liked the chinese red (which is really orange in the bright sun). and her son said, yeah it reminds me of whataburger! the mayor was on tv this past weekend saying the design is the future of houston. so i think we can only expect more. but i think bike lanes are just as impt. the westheimer buildings are old developments. they were just built close to the street a long time ago. some areas do have closer setback like in freedman's town. -

concur!! After reading an article in SmartMoney magazine, i know i wouldn't buy furniture there. In a recent article titled "Pottery Barn Unstuffed," the magazine spent thousands of dollars on pieces from Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and Crate and Barrel. It claimed that a $400 Pottery Barn coffee table has an easily chipped veneer just one-fortieth of an inch thick. It also found a $900 Crate and Barrel chair had thin cardboard shaping the arms. It also claimed a $1,200 Crate and Barrel bed was held together by screws into particle board. can you say low quality? -
Pecan Park Neighborhood Developments

I've seen a couple of the idylwood residents i know hiring help from there. I personally haven't hired any but just this weekend i hired someone who drove by and asked if my parents needed a tree stump removed. I took him to my house and he removed my tree stump for $30. i had several bids and none were near that price. -

on street parking is fine IF the street was designed for it. i don't think that cutting through neighborhoods is the proper way to address the problem but i must admit i do it. -
hope? look around there are gaudy townhouses everywhere.

Yes they do go to seminars to learn how to give blank stares...... in vegas, atlantic city, nola, etc. good luck at the board meeting. hopefully you can update us on the project over there. -
find out who your neighborhood protection officer is. tell them that you've seen rats and that they are coming to your property. if the stuff is piled on the ground, that is also illegal. i believe you can report the rats to the health dept as well. they may be more effective.

exactly! so has the train improved on transit or does it just look better than a bus? concur. ours isn't segregated either.
-
True. when the local govt starts dictating to developers, then they will be less likely to develop.

Since few people actually live along the red line, there would still have to be parking otherwise the business would be prone to failure. for those with money, the convenience (and time savings) a car provides is too valuable. In the picture, i like how no traffic lanes were lost. still looks like it is very car oriented to me.

he made it sound as if he knew rps from the developer/realtor world as he mentioned his name more than once. i agree with you stoli. i just thought it was funny that the developer said this project would "revitalize" the neighborhood. i asked him how low income people would revitalize the neighborhood? all i got was a blank stare.
