  7. your issue is ultimately with the legal department who usually do what they are told to do.
  8. sounds like audubon place is trying to help themselves, not houston. one neighborhood can't dictate how all future development will take place in houston

  10. no they weren't. baybrook didn't have penney's nor foley's which helped almeda stay in biz IMO.
  11. Mosaic's developer files Chapter 11 protection The developer of the Mosaic condominium tower on the edge of Hermann Park has filed for bankruptcy protection, another sign that the national recession and credit crunch is affecting the Houston real estate market. The developer, 5925 Almeda North Tower LP, made the Chapter 11 filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on Monday. Assets were listed at $85 million and debts at almost $52 million. The Mosaic project was announced in 2005 and twin towers were developed at the 5925 Almeda site. The second tower, which is not part of the bankruptcy, is still under construction. It was recently renamed Montage and the units there will be rented as apartments. full article

  13. 13 reported that there's supposed to be a meeting today regarding the status of the new bar that violates setbacks at the planning commission this afternoon
  14. just utility work west of the old maxwell house plant.
  15. i don't remember a sears out there in 71 but that's not saying much (the aerial website doesn't appear to indicate there was one there either). i remember the mall opening ~1979 with sears, montgomery wards and joske's. this was a good complement to almeda since it had penney's and foley's. i do remember then mervyn's and macy's were added but can't pinpoint a year( 85 is what one website says macy's opening yr was). then in the mid to late 90's macy's closed in baybrook (joske's had already been bought out and changed to dillards in ~87) and dillards opened their 2nd store in baybrook where the former macy's was. this "newer" dillards was expanded and the original dillards closed. here's where my memory goes cause i never was a fan of baybrook. if someone remembers what was, where macy's is now, then i can probably continue. i'm thinking it was ward's.
