Forget this neighborhood, clearly they don't want this to happen. Let's just put it on an entire block between Shepherd and Durham north of 11th. Displace some nastiness, new customers for the remodeled Kroger, everyone wins.

What aspect of living in that neighbourhood is idiotic?
None. Well, maybe spelling things in British English...I kid! I'm talking about how all of them claim this will be the end of the world with their "tower of terror" nonsense. Yeah I hope they don't suffer the fate of River Oaks, which has one or two of these things and has been doing just fine for years.

If all those poor rich people's home lose a ton of value, oh well. We'll move there so they can go be idiots somewhere else.

Landfill out on Beaumont Highway
And my favorite golf course Brock Park just past the landfill! It's cheap, and if the wind isn't blowing the wrong way it's worth it.
Nice pics.

You mean the old one, right? The new one is likely to be a huge hit, and not just with fleets. The SHO, while pricey, will be a sleeper hit. I LOVE the Fors Sync system.
Historically I've never liked any Fords, but I'm coming to like a few like the Edge and another one I can't remember. If they are redoing the Taurus that much, they should just give it a new name. The name Taurus carries too much from its history.
-
The new Taurus starts at $25K
That makes me want to throw up. That car isn't worth a damn thing. It is the most generic piece of crap, I don't understand anyone who drives it unless they get stuck with a rental.

Does the big Jesus statue in Rio creep people out...any more than the big Sam Houston one on I-45?
Whatever. No use letting yourself be affected by inanimate objects. Build stuff, build it big. I just like to see impressive feats of construction and creativity. This is neither, I drive by it most mornings and it's just a building.

Just start building it in March when all the neighbors are on ski holiday. And when they come back and whine, slap them.

A third vote for the water, I know I stay think partly because I drink water all day. Also, no kidney stones!

What are cracklins?
I usually take two or three of either an apple, pear, nectarine banana or cherries to work for lunch. I've been taking mangos too but they're a little too juicy. What else? I need variety
Also, what color apple? I have to mix the different kinds of apples in, too.
I go with Gala apples, Canino's always has good ones. I will do most any red apple, green ones aren't my thing. I also keep a jar of dry roasted peanuts at my desk and usually need a handful by 9am because I'm hungry.
Cracklins = fried pork skin, but not the same as pork rinds. Some people may use the term interchangeably, but pork rinds to me are those things in the bag at the gas station that are crunchy (also good stuff). Cracklins are thicker, and have not only skin but some of the fat layer and usually a bit of meat too. In Louisiana, at the good butcher places, they are sold by the pound and they always give them to you in a brown paper bag, which then becomes clear due to the awesomeness. So yeah, they're really good for me.

An apple every day around 2-3 pm works great for me. It balances out the pound or so of cracklins I ate this weekend.

I do hope they will sell a Metro Bus Stop Action Playset. Complete with a homeless bum, litter, and stain/urine/vomit appliques. Metro police, ambulance, and innocent bystanders sold separately.
"No defecating in the bushes" sign sold separately?

Woohoo, mentioned as first example of sprawl in an article, negative context of course.

Went to Chicago Pizza just now, got the deep dish and liked it. Not as good as what I had in Chicago, but good enough to satisfy and return.
-
Another pizza lover who finds Star completely overrated. Ugh.
We get Candelari's often for delivery. Solid. Dolce Vita is good for fancy pizza, but when I just really want a big, old plain slice of cheese, I honestly love New York Pizzeria. It reminds me of the good, divey places back home. How they perfected that in a chain, I'll never know.
I vote NY Pizzeria, we love that one. But I will say that we've seen different quality and totally different outcome between the different locations. The one in Pearland is good, so is midtown. The Jillian's one not so much. Westheimer@Chimney Rock is also good.

HBJ poses this question:
Congress is considering imposing new federal taxes on soda and other sugary drinks to help pay for an overhaul of the nation's health care system. Would you support a soda tax?
Why don't they just tax all things with high fructose corn syrup?
That might just facilitate a switch back to real sugar. I'm for it, whatever. Cane rocks!

Don't turn on ESPN or in 30 minutes, then...or tomorrow afternoon.
Oh, or tomorrow night. Or this weekend.
EDIT: IT'S RELEVANT NOW!!!!!!!
Only because we won A game...it'll go away as quickly as it was interesting. Soccer needs more stats, there's nothing to follow except goals, and those are so few and far between there's nothing to cover. When missed shots are highlights, your sport is lame.
I am glad they are building the stadium, it's good for the area. I might even go to a game because I heard they are fun.
-
When is this supposed to get started again? because it seems as its still in its preliminary stages and been that way for the past 3-4 years.
As soon as soccer becomes relevant in the US. Keep waiting...not yet...

I have a dent in a door about half the size of a fist, middle of the metal basically, not near an edge. My brother-in-law says to use dry ice, rub it on there and as the metal contracts it will pop right out.
Bad idea? Risk of messing up paint or other stuff? I would hold it in a rag or something, no direct contact, and just rub to cool the area down I guess.

Umm, the lawsuit was filed by the dead TxDOT worker's family against the drunk driver who killed him. Maybe its because I'm a lawyer, but I am absolutely in favor of blaming the drunk who ran over me for my problem with being dead.
No problem blaming the drunk, that's my point.
Just a thought, but the TABC investigation appears to involve the possibility that the drunk was getting his drinks free from an Aramark employee. They might try to get them in the suit that way. However, serving someone free drinks is very likely outside the scope of the Aramark server's employment, so it would be a stretch. Unless they could show Aramark knows that off-duty employees drink free and condones it, they probably would be safe from the lawsuit. Of course, Aramark has the deep pockets, so you always try to get them in the suit somehow. That's what I meant. It's not Aramark's fault that guy got drunk and killed someone. Even if it was some free drinks thing, you take responsibility for your actions.

Timely story on the barnacle today: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6473536.html
flipper
I hate this kind of lawsuit trying to blame others for people's problem. It's not MY fault, they made me get drunk and drive. Even if free drinks are available, YOU are responsible for your actions. Idiots.

Today the Astros announce the KIDS FREE ALL SUMMER program
People say I look young, and the wife could pass for 14, maybe. You think they'll card us?
-
I know their prices are insane, but for me part of the ballgame experience is getting the chili-dog and nacho's. Bringing my own just wouldnt be the same.
Eating the chili-dog and nacho's are part of the ballgame experience, paying $14 for both is not. It's robbery.
I'm just dying to go to a game and sit next to some mouth breather scarfing down a panormous pizza they brought in on a dolly and a mini keg of diet coke.I'm dying to be that mouth breather sitting next to you with the food I brought. No diet coke though. And it'll be leftover smoked spare ribs, and I'll leave all the bones on the floor like peanut shells. YEAH AMERICA!!!

Okay, now its all coming together. I know exactly where this is now. When all of this gets built this is going to be a nice area. So when exactly will the tall building get built?
You mean the building in this picture? The one that's already done?

4Runners are nice now, but they resemble nothing of what they originally started as. I had a 1990 one and love it. Back in college a friend had an even older one that was basically a truck with a permanent bed cover and a back seat. The engine is way better now than it was, much more efficient and more powerful. But it's a mom car now. no more truck. I wish I had kept mine.
